Contract-to-Hire Job Summary MS Companies is seeking a Senior Process Engineer - Seats Production for a high-paying Contract-to-Hire opportunity with our automotive manufacturing client in Northern Indiana. This position is responsible for analyzing, designing, and optimizing manufacturing processes to improve efficiency, quality, safety, and cost performance within a high-volume automotive seating production environment. The ideal candidate will have extensive automotive manufacturing experience, strong industrial engineering expertise, and a proven ability to lead lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives. Required Skills & Qualifications Must-have qualifications that candidates must meet to be considered:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent industry experience
  • Minimum 12 years of automotive manufacturing experience
  • Strong experience with Lean Manufacturing methodologies including Kaizen, 5S, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Experience conducting time studies, work measurement, line balancing, and process optimization
  • Knowledge of ERP systems and manufacturing planning tools
  • Proven experience supporting new product launches and process validation activities
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and root cause analysis skills
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship Preferred Skills & Qualifications Nice-to-have skills that would make a candidate more competitive but are not required:
  • Automotive OEM manufacturing experience
  • Experience with automotive seating, interior trim, or assembly operations
  • Six Sigma certification or demonstrated Six Sigma project experience
  • Experience in Just-In-Time (JIT) manufacturing environments
  • Knowledge of PFMEA development and implementation
  • Experience with Kanban systems and material flow optimization
  • Capital equipment planning and manufacturing automation experience
  • Strong leadership experience working with cross-functional teams Day-to-Day Responsibilities Outline key tasks and expectations for the role:
  • Design, analyze, and improve manufacturing processes to maximize productivity, quality, and cost efficiency
  • Conduct time studies, work measurement analyses, and line balancing activities
  • Implement Lean Manufacturing initiatives including Kaizen events, 5S programs, and waste reduction projects
  • Optimize plant layouts, workstation ergonomics, and material flow systems
  • Analyze production capacity and support manpower, tooling, and equipment planning
  • Monitor and improve key performance indicators including OEE, cycle time, throughput, and scrap rates
  • Support new product launches, DFM/DFA reviews, and process capability validation
  • Develop and maintain PFMEAs, work instructions, standard operating procedures, and other manufacturing documentation Physical and Environment Requirements Physical expectations and working conditions associated with the job may include standing, walking, bending, and sitting for extended periods.
Candidates may be required to lift up to 25 pounds and work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery, moving equipment, production operations, and industrial noise. Occasional overtime, weekend work, or shift flexibility may be required based on production demands.
