Kentucky , Louisville Job Description Introduction We are seeking a hands-on Quality Engineer - Plastics Manufacturing to support a fast-paced plastics manufacturing operation in Kentucky. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being on the floor, solving problems, and partnering with production to ensure robust part quality for injection-molded components. Primary Duties Develop and maintain quality control plans for injection molding and secondary operations. Lead root-cause analysis and corrective actions for scrap, customer complaints, and internal nonconformances. Support PPAP, capability studies, and MSA for new molds, tooling changes, and process changes. Work closely with process technicians and engineers to define critical dimensions, tolerances, and inspection methods. Participate in mold qualifications, first-article inspections, and run-at-rate activities. Monitor quality metrics (scrap, rework, customer returns) and drive continuous improvement projects focused on plastic part quality. Qualifications / Experience Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field preferred, or equivalent experience. 3+ years of quality experience in plastics, ideally injection molding. Working knowledge of quality tools (control plans, PFMEA, PPAP, SPC, MSA). Ability to read and interpret prints with GD&T and understand plastic-specific issues (warp, sink, flash, knit lines). Strong communication skills and the ability to influence production, tooling, and engineering teams. Example Benefits Competitive salary with performance-based bonus opportunity.
