Job Description:
Entry-Level Industrial Engineer (3PL Distribution Center) UPS Global Logistics & Distribution (GLD) Role Summary UPS Global Logistics & Distribution is seeking an Entry-Level Industrial Engineer to support operations within a dynamic 3PL distribution center environment. This role focuses on improving operational efficiency through data analysis, labor planning, and process optimization. As part of a cross-functional team, you will work closely with operations, engineering, and systems support to identify performance gaps, enhance productivity, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. This position offers hands-on exposure to warehouse operations and provides a strong foundation for growth in industrial engineering and supply chain management.
  • Key Responsibilities Operational Support
  • Monitor and analyze daily performance across various operational functions
  • Identify process inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and improvement opportunities
  • Partner with operations teams to support workflow optimization and service performance Labor Planning & Productivity
  • Analyze labor performance against established standards and productivity targets
  • Support staffing and workforce planning based on volume trends and operational requirements
  • Assist in balancing labor resources across functions to improve efficiency and cost control Data Analysis & Reporting
  • Collect and analyze operational data including throughput, pick rates, inventory accuracy, and utilization
  • Develop reports, dashboards, and summaries to support decision-making
  • Identify trends and provide actionable insights to improve performance Process Improvement
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives through observation, time studies, and process analysis
  • Assist in developing recommendations to reduce waste, improve flow, and increase efficiency
  • Participate in implementation and validation of process changes Capacity & Space Utilization
  • Evaluate storage utilization, slotting strategies, and workspace efficiency
  • Support analysis of labor, space, and equipment capacity to align with customer demand
  • Assist in identifying opportunities to improve layout and material flow Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Work with operations, finance, engineering, and IT/WMS teams to support project execution
  • Communicate findings and recommendations clearly to stakeholders
  • Assist with implementation of approved operational improvements
  • Required Qualifications
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and standard business applications
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to work in a team-oriented environment
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations, or a related field
  • Internship, co-op, or project experience in warehouse, logistics, manufacturing, or supply chain environments
  • Exposure to warehouse management systems (WMS) or labor management tools
  • Familiarity with data analysis, reporting tools, or process mapping techniques
  • Experience with continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, or similar concepts)
  • Understanding of material flow, distribution center operations, or fulfillment processes
