Controls Engineer Job Description We are seeking a hands-on Controls Engineer to support conveyance and process-focused paint shop operations on the 2nd shift. The role requires independent troubleshooting of live production issues involving PLCs, drives, motor starters, and industrial networks using the standard controls stack. Responsibilities Troubleshoot live production issues independently involving PLCs, drives, motor starters, and industrial networks. Provide support for conveyance and process-focused paint shop operations on the 2nd shift. Utilize standard controls stack for troubleshooting and problem-solving. Perform safe online edits, ladder logic, and sequence debugging. Troubleshoot Siemens HMI using TIA Portal. Support automotive conveyance systems including skid, power & free, and production conveyors. Troubleshoot PowerFlex 755 and PowerFlex 700 drives. Work with Rockwell motor starters, both standard and smart. Troubleshoot DeviceNet ArmorStart systems. Conduct hands-on DeviceNet troubleshooting, addressing nodes, power, noise, and dropouts. Troubleshoot EtherNet/IP in production environments. Understand and support PID loops related to temperature, airflow, and pressure. Stabilize simple process controls such as fans, pumps, and ovens tied to conveyance systems. Essential Skills Experience with Rockwell ControlLogix / GuardLogix for production support. Proficiency in safe online edits, ladder logic, and sequence debugging. Experience with Siemens HMI troubleshooting using TIA Portal. Strong automotive conveyance system support experience. Ability to troubleshoot PowerFlex 755 and PowerFlex 700. Experience with Rockwell motor starters and DeviceNet ArmorStart. Hands-on experience with DeviceNet and EtherNet/IP troubleshooting. Basic understanding of PID loops and process controls. Additional Skills & Qualifications Plant Engineering experience in a plant floor setting. Work Environment The work environment involves plant floor settings with a focus on conveyance and process operations. The role is based on the 2nd shift, requiring hands-on troubleshooting and problem-solving in a dynamic production environment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Flint, MI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $60.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
