Job Description

Process Engineer Aerospace CNC/CAM (MasterCAM)Position OverviewWe are seeking a proactive Process Engineer to develop, optimize and sustain manufacturing processes for aerospace components. The role focuses on CAM programming (MasterCAM), CNC process development, and production support to improve part quality, reduce cost and lead time, and ensure compliance with aerospace standards. The ideal candidate combines hands-on machining knowledge with strong engineering fundamentals and continuous improvement experience.

Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and document robust manufacturing processes for aerospace components, including CNC machining, fixturing, tooling and workholding strategies.

Create, optimize and maintain CAM programs using MasterCAM and related CAM software to ensure efficient, repeatable CNC machining operations.

Support CNC setup and production: generate NC code, perform post-processing, verify toolpaths, and troubleshoot machining issues on the shop floor.

Collaborate with design engineers, quality, production and suppliers to translate engineering drawings into manufacturable processes and to resolve nonconformances.

Lead continuous improvement initiatives (Lean manufacturing, Kaizen, and Six Sigma techniques) to reduce cycle time, scrap and cost while improving throughput and first-pass yield.

Perform process capability studies, root cause analysis and corrective action implementation for process deviations and quality escapes.

Develop and maintain process documentation including work instructions, process flow diagrams, PFMEA, control plans and inspection criteria to meet AS9100 and customer requirements.

Train and mentor production personnel and machine operators on process best practices, safe operation of CNC equipment and the use of CAM/CNC programs.

Qualifications3+ years of hands-on experience in manufacturing process engineering, preferably within aerospace!

Proven proficiency with MasterCAM and CAM/CNC programming; practical experience generating and validating NC code for multi-axis milling and turning.

Strong knowledge of CNC machine tools, tooling, metrology, GD&T, and machining practices for metals used in aerospace (aluminum, titanium, stainless steel).Experience with continuous improvement methods (Lean, Six Sigma) and root cause analysis tools (5 Whys, Fishbone, FMEA).Familiarity with aerospace quality systems and standards (AS9100, NADCAP) and working with inspection equipment (CMM, calipers, micrometers).Proficient with CAD software (SolidWorks, CATIA or equivalent) and manufacturing systems (ERP/MRP); strong analytical, communication and teamwork skills.

Certifications such as Six Sigma, Lean, or Machine-specific training and a willingness to work in a shop-floor environment are a plus.
