Job Description

The Interior Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) is responsible for managing different supplier locations and parts to ensure high quality products are produced and transported to Stellantis Assembly Plants. The engineer will provide on-site launch support to suppliers' facilities to ensure launch readiness as required, leading up to and including program launch. They will also be responsible for managing post launch continuous improvement activities and to provide on-site support at Stellantis assembly plants as required. In this lead capacity, the engineer also provides day-to-day guidance to others in the group, helps coordinate work across the team, and supports the training and development of the workforce to build capability, consistency, and succession strength. The Engineer will also be responsible for working cross functionally with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Purchasing to ensure proper designs, suppliers and manufacturing processes are selected.

Within our Supplier Quality Engineering role, we ask that our engineers drive change within both plant manufacturing and component suppliers to resolve complex component issues. It is the engineer's responsibility to ensure component suppliers' processes are robust and capable to stay on track and manage key component quality milestones. Overall, the engineer will lead all problem-solving activities with internal and external organizations, manage warranty with their suppliers, and ensure best practices and lessons learned are applied across the several different vehicle programs. As a lead within the group, this role is also expected to mentor team members, share technical expertise, support onboarding and skill development, and help elevate overall team performance through coaching and knowledge transfer.

Typical job responsibilities for the Interior Supplier Quality Engineer may include the following:

Perform supplier quality systems and process audits and lead Supplier Improvement/Development ProgramsEstablish close relationships with assigned suppliers and actively drive continuous improvement activitiesInitiate and follow-up on corrective actions and verify effectiveness on-siteParticipation in launch teams, lead and coordinate
APQP/PPAP
deliverables for purchased components within supplier quality groupAssist in educating suppliers on Stellantis systems and requirementsLead and support supplier APQP and PPAP activities to ensure all deliverables are being fulfilledWork with Engineering and Supplier Organizations to alleviate discrepancies in product specifications and evaluate cost reduction opportunitiesProvide day-to-day leadership and direction to engineers within the group, helping prioritize work, remove barriers, and promote effective execution across programs and supplier activitiesCoach, mentor, and develop team members through regular feedback, knowledge sharing, and technical guidance to strengthen individual capability and overall team performanceSupport onboarding, training, and ongoing development of the workforce by identifying skill gaps, reinforcing best practices, and partnering on development plans that build bench strength and succession readiness
Basic Qualifications:
Minimum Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Automotive (or similar) Engineering from an ABET accredited program or equivalent program8 years or more of work experience in automotive engineering, manufacturing, or supplier quality areasProficient interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a cross functional team environmentComfortable leading and directing supplier meetingsDemonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop others in a technical or cross-functional environmentProven ability to manage multiple projects and tasksCreative problem-solving ability and results orientated approachProficient in using Microsoft OfficeAbility to travel within the USA and Canada (up to 40% travel may be required from time to time)
