$150,000 - $190,000 Base + Annual Performance Bonus About the Opportunity Are you a hands-on engineer who thrives in high-impact, complex energy environments? We are seeking a Plant / Project Engineer to drive the reliability, efficiency, and execution of strategic capital projects at a massive 980 MW natural gas combined-cycle cogeneration facility located in Linden, NJ. Reporting directly to the Plant Manager, this role blends high-level project management with daily operational engineering to optimize a critical energy asset featuring GE 7EA and 7FA gas turbines. If you are looking for a highly visible role where your technical decisions directly impact plant output, safety, and reliability, this is your next step. What You'll Do (Key Responsibilities)
Engineering & Reliability:
Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for forced outages, monitor plant performance data, and manage predictive maintenance programs (vibration analysis, air-in leakage).

Manage strategic capital improvement projects from conception to completion, including budgeting, preparing RFPs, evaluating bid packages, and overseeing contractors. Management of Change (MOC): Own the MOC process, ensuring all system, procedure, or equipment modifications are thoroughly reviewed and documented.
Operational Oversight:
Direct water treatment and production programs, support outage planning/execution, and ensure regulatory compliance (NERC, ASME codes).
Leadership Backup:
Serve as a strategic backup for the Maintenance and Operations Managers, providing leadership support across the plant.
What We Are Looking For Experience:
Proven track record of increasing responsibility in a power plant or heavy industrial/refinery environment (combined-cycle or cogeneration experience is highly preferred).
Education:
B.S. or Master's degree in an engineering discipline. In lieu of a degree, an extensive, hands-on operations or maintenance background in power generation will be considered.
Technical Skills:
Deep understanding of power plant O&M, proficiency with PI and
CEMS/DAS

Compliance & Safety:
Familiarity with
NERC/FERC
standards. Must currently possess or be able to obtain a TWIC card and meet refinery site access requirements.
Credentials:
Valid U.S. driver's license and a safety-first mindset. Working Conditions & Schedule Standard Monday to Friday day shift, with occasional extended hours/flexibility during outages or specific plant conditions. Heavy industrial environment requiring the ability to climb stairs/ladders, work at heights, and utilize standard plant PPE (FRC, hard hat, safety glasses). Ready to Apply? If you are local to the Northern/Central New Jersey area (or willing to relocate to the area) and possess the hard power-gen experience required for a 980 MW facility, we want to hear from you.
