Job Description

Client Overview:
Our client is a growing company known for creating innovative personal care products sold across major retail and global markets. They are currently expanding their team and looking to add a Quality Packaging Engineer .
Salary/Hourly Rate:
$120k - $130k
Position Overview:
The Quality Packaging Engineer will support packaging quality, supplier quality, component validation, and finished goods performance for consumer product packaging. This role will work closely with Quality, Packaging, Engineering, R&D, Operations, suppliers, and contract manufacturers to ensure packaging components meet quality, safety, regulatory, and performance standards. The position may require occasional travel to a nearby corporate office as well as up to 20% domestic travel to suppliers, contract manufacturers, or distribution centers. Responsibilities of the
Quality Packaging Engineer:
Qualify packaging suppliers through assessments, sample approvals, first article inspections, and performance monitoring. Support packaging validation activities, including dimensional testing, leakage/vacuum testing, durability testing, torque/fit testing, and environmental conditioning. Investigate packaging-related failures such as leakage, pump malfunction, component defects, or production issues. Lead root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action activities related to packaging quality concerns. Support line trials, engineering runs, and new product launches to ensure packaging is manufacturable and fit for use. Partner with Operations and Manufacturing teams to troubleshoot packaging issues during filling, assembly, and production startup. Track, analyze, and report packaging quality data, nonconformance trends, and supplier performance metrics. Maintain packaging-related documentation within the Quality Management System and support change control for packaging updates. Ensure packaging components meet applicable GMP, regulatory, and quality standards. Collaborate with internal teams and external suppliers on packaging improvements related to durability, sustainability, cost, and process capability. Required Experience/Skills for the
Quality Packaging Engineer:
3+ years of experience in packaging quality, packaging engineering, supplier quality, or component validation. Hands-on experience with packaging testing, line trials, supplier quality, and component qualification. Experience working with domestic and/or international suppliers, contract manufacturers, or distribution centers. Understanding of packaging materials such as plastics, glass, metal, paperboard, and related manufacturing processes, including molding and printing. Advanced Excel skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Preferred Experience/Skills for the
Quality Packaging Engineer:
Experience in cosmetics, beauty, personal care, CPG, or consumer product manufacturing is strongly preferred. Familiarity with ISO 9001, cosmetic
GMP, ISTA
testing, SPC, AQL, CAPA, and quality system documentation is preferred. Experience using QMS systems is preferred.
Education Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related technical field preferred.
