- 5pm The Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) is responsible for ensuring that all purchased materials, components, and outsourced processes meet company quality standards and customer specifications.
The SQE works closely with suppliers, purchasing, engineering, and production teams to improve supplier performance, resolve quality issues, and implement corrective and preventive actions. This role focuses on strengthening supplier quality systems, reducing incoming material defects, and supporting supplier development initiatives to ensure consistent delivery of high-quality materials and services.
Responsibilities:
Manage the supplier quality program to ensure suppliers meet company quality standards. Monitor and evaluate supplier quality performance metrics such as: Incoming rejection rate Supplier
PPM SCAR
closure time On-time delivery performance. Collaborate with the Supply Chain team to maintain and update the Approved Supplier List (ASL) Issue and manage Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCARs) for nonconforming materials. Lead supplier investigations to determine root causes of quality issues. Review and approve supplier corrective and preventive action plans. Verify the effectiveness of supplier corrective actions. Support and improve the incoming material inspection process. Collaborate with QC inspectors to resolve supplier-related quality issues.
Review supplier documentation such as:
Material certifications, Certificates of Conformance, Inspection reports, Test reports. Work with suppliers to improve manufacturing processes and quality performance. Provide technical guidance to suppliers to resolve recurring quality issues. Support suppliers in implementing quality best practices and process controls. Evaluate supplier quality systems and compliance with requirements. Identify risks and opportunities for improvement in supplier processes. Support the qualification of new suppliers and manufacturing processes. Review supplier capability and quality systems. Actively support and promote company safety initiatives and programs across all operations
Travel Required:
25% (domestic and occasional international travel)
Experience:
3-5 years of experience in: Supplier Quality Quality Engineering Manufacturing Quality Experience working with suppliers in manufacturing environments
Other Skills:
Root cause analysis (5 Why, Fishbone, 8D) Supplier corrective action management Inspection and measurement methods Strong data analysis skills using Excel or similar tools .
