The Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) is responsible for ensuring that external suppliers consistently provide materials and services that meet AMETEK, customer, and regulatory requirements. This role drives continuous improvement in supplier quality performance through effective use of corrective and preventive actions, data analysis, audits, and collaboration with cross-functional teams. The SQE plays a critical role in protecting product conformity, reducing supplier-related risk, and supporting on-time delivery across the organization. This position reports directly to the PDS Director of Quality .Key Responsibilities:
Supplier Quality & Performance Lead and support supplier quality activities in accordance with applicable Quality Management System (QMS) requirements. Monitor, analyze, and improve supplier performance using metrics such as defects, complaints, escapes, and raw material rejects. Develop and maintain supplier quality performance tracking, including scorecards and trend analysis. Support timely resolution of supplier nonconformances through effective containment, root cause analysis, and corrective and preventive actions (SCARs). Corrective Action & Continuous Improvement Facilitate and promote structured problem-solving methodologies such as FMEA, DMAIC, and process capability analysis. Ensure corrective and preventive actions are effective, sustainable, and closed in a timely manner. Drive continuous improvement initiatives aligned with plant and organizational quality objectives. Audits & Compliance Plan and conduct supplier quality audits and internal audits as required. Support compliance to applicable standards and regulations, including ISO 9001, AS9100, and FAA requirements, as applicable. Assist the Director of Quality in maintaining supplier-related elements of the Quality Management System. Cross-Functional Collaboration Work closely with Receiving Inspection, Operations, Materials, Manufacturing Engineering, and Development to ensure supplier capability and material conformity. Provide quality support for supplier-related issues impacting production, delivery, or compliance. Support multiple PDS locations as required. Supplier Management Evaluate new suppliers and participate in supplier selection and qualification activities. Create, maintain, and support the Approved Supplier List (ASL). Support supplier quality awareness and training initiatives as needed. Authority Authorized to initiate supplier containment actions and recommend corrective actions. Authorized to escalate supplier quality risks that may impact product conformity, compliance, or delivery. May recommend supplier approval, probation, or disqualification based on performance and risk.Minimum Qualifications:
Education & Experience Bachelor's degree required; engineering discipline preferred. 5-7 years of experience supporting a certified Quality Management System (ISO 9001, AS9100, FAA). Demonstrated success driving supplier quality improvement in a manufacturing environment. Aerospace industry experience preferred. Experience supporting large OEM customers preferred. Previous audit experience strongly desired.ASQ/ASQC
certification preferred. Technical & Professional Skills Strong understanding of supplier quality principles and regulatory requirements. Familiarity withFAA / EASA / UK CAA
Part-145 regulations preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications; Access experience a plus. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities. Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively across functions. Self-motivated, proactive, and results-oriented team player.Physical & Work Environment Requirements:
Primarily office-based work with periodic presence in manufacturing and receiving environments. Occasional lifting, carrying, or moving of materials up to 35 pounds may be required. Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and reach as needed. Use of vision for close work and inspection activities; color vision required. Must meet AMETEK vision standards. Required to wear safety glasses in designated areas; additional PPE as required. Employees may be subject to random drug and alcohol testing in accordance with FAA regulations.Compensation Employee Type:
