Founded in the mid-1920s and headquartered in the Charlette, NC area, our organization manufactures several widely recognized building material product lines, including drywall, finishing products, and cement board systems used across commercial and residential construction markets throughout North America. We are seeking a Combustion Engineer to support manufacturing operations across multiple facilities, focusing on thermal process optimization, combustion systems, drying operations, energy efficiency initiatives, and plant troubleshooting. The ideal candidate will bring hands-on experience with industrial combustion systems in manufacturing environments along with a strong background in thermal process engineering. Benefits:

Requirements:
  • Engineering degree preferred; equivalent hands-on technical experience will be considered
  • Minimum 2+ years of manufacturing engineering experience
  • Experience working with industrial combustion systems, burners, or thermal process equipment
  • Strong understanding of: thermodynamics heat transfer mass transfer fluid mechanics airflow balancing combustion optimization
  • Willingness to travel up to 50%
Key Responsibilities:
  • Support combustion systems, thermal processes, and drying operations across multiple manufacturing facilities
  • Evaluate plant thermal and electrical systems and identify opportunities for performance improvement, energy reduction, and cost savings
  • Troubleshoot manufacturing process issues related to combustion, airflow, heat transfer, and production inefficiencies
  • Recommend and help implement process improvements that improve plant reliability, throughput, and operating efficiency
  • Support startup, tuning, and troubleshooting of industrial burners, combustion systems, and associated controls
  • Analyze plant process data and develop recommendations for process optimization
  • Assist with upgrades involving process controls, instrumentation, and data collection systems
