Electrical Engineer - Automotive & IndustrialWe are a multidisciplinary architecture and engineering practice dedicated to delivering thoughtful, high performance solutions for civic, commercial, educational, and public safety projects. Position OverviewWe are seeking a motivated Electrical Engineer to join our automotive and industrial engineering team. The successful candidate will design, develop, and validate electrical systems and power distribution solutions for vehicle and industrial equipment applications. This role combines hands-on circuit and systems design with project engineering responsibilities, working closely with mechanical, software, and manufacturing teams to deliver safe, compliant, and cost-effective products on schedule.

Key ResponsibilitiesDesign and develop electrical systems, circuits, and power distribution architectures for automotive and industrial products.

Create and review schematics, wiring diagrams, and component specifications; select parts and suppliers.

Develop and execute test plans, perform validation and verification on prototypes, and troubleshoot electrical issues.

Ensure designs meet regulatory, safety, and industry standards (automotive and industrial), including preparation of documentation for approvals and audits.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams (mechanical, software, manufacturing, quality) to integrate electrical systems into complete products.

Support product development lifecycle as a project engineer: manage technical schedules, scope, risks, and change requests.

Produce and maintain detailed engineering documentation, BOMs, and handoffs for production and service.

Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Participate in design reviews, supplier evaluations, and cost-reduction activities.

Support commissioning, factory acceptance testing, and field troubleshooting as required.

QualificationsBachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; Masters degree a plus.3+ years of relevant experience in electrical design for automotive and/or industrial equipment; experience as a Project Engineer is preferred.

Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or progress toward PE certification strongly preferred.

Hands-on experience with power distribution systems, circuit design, wiring harnesses, and component selection.

Familiarity with automotive and industrial standards (for example
ISO 26262, IPC, UL, CE
) and safety/regulatory compliance.

Proficiency with electrical design tools (schematic capture, CAD/ECAD such as Altium/OrCAD/AutoCAD), simulation tools (SPICE, MATLAB/Simulink) and test equipment (oscilloscopes, power analyzers).Experience with control systems, PLCs, motor drives, sensors, and electronic control units (ECUs) is a plus.

Strong problem-solving, project management, and communication skills with demonstrated ability to work in cross-functional teams.

Willingness to support prototype builds, testing in the lab, and occasional travel to supplier or customer sites.
