Job Description

About the RoleWe are looking for an Electrical Engineer based in the Phoenix, Arizona region to support the design and implementation of electrical systems for water treatment, wastewater facilities, and mining operations. This role combines technical design work, client coordination, field involvement, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams. You'll work on a mix of municipal and industrial infrastructure projects, helping clients plan, modernize, and troubleshoot critical power and control systems.

This position is ideal for an engineer who enjoys variety-ranging from modeling power systems to coordinating with utilities, reviewing contractor work, and supporting startup of major equipment.

Key ResponsibilitiesLead or support electrical design tasks for water treatment plants, wastewater facilities, pumping systems, and mining site infrastructure throughout the Phoenix region.

Provide direction to engineers and technicians involved in detailed design, ensuring compliance with project requirements, standards, and client expectations.

Act as a technical resource for power distribution, medium‑ and low‑voltage equipment, VFDs, motor control systems, standby generators, and facility electrical upgrades.

Participate in client discussions to clarify project needs, propose technical solutions, and support long‑term planning efforts.

Perform engineering studies such as coordination analysis, arc‑flash evaluations, power reliability assessments, and energy optimization reviews.

Work with Arizona utilities to address service requirements, load needs, and interconnection considerations.

Review vendor submittals, shop drawings, and technical documentation for alignment with project specifications.

Provide construction‑phase support, including field inspections, troubleshooting, issue resolution, and electrical observation reports.

Interface with instrumentation and controls teams to coordinate electrical/controls integration, including PLC cabinets, SCADA interfaces, and network design.

Assist with equipment testing, operational startup, and functional verification for new or rehabilitated systems at water, wastewater, and mining facilities.

QualificationsPreferred BackgroundProfessional Engineer (P.E.) license in Arizona, or ability to obtain licensure.5-8 years of experience in electrical design or construction support, ideally in water/wastewater, mining, or industrial utility environments.

Experience with medium‑ and low‑voltage electrical distribution, VFDs, switchgear, MCCs, and generator systems.

Understanding of PLC hardware/software, HMI/SCADA interfaces, industrial networks, and instrumentation.

Experience participating in client meetings and supporting proposals or business development.

Familiarity with SKM, ETAP, or similar tools for electrical system modeling.

Additional RequirementsAbility to travel within the Phoenix region for meetings, site visits, and field engineering work.

Must be authorized to work in the United StatesWork EnvironmentFull‑time Phoenix‑based role with hybrid flexibility available after the initial onboarding period.

Occasional regional travel to water, wastewater, and mining project sites.
