Job Description
Job Summary:
Production Engineer is responsible for improving productivity and profit at plant and drive quality improvement through root cause analysis, ensure products are manufactured in compliance with customer specifications, safety standards and design specifications. Key Responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned as needed): Assist in monitoring and analyzing production line performance (cycle time, downtime, efficiency)Support the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives (Kaizen, 5S, root cause analysis)Participate in data collection and reporting of key production metricsHelp troubleshoot production issues in collaboration with production and maintenance teamsWork on specific projects such as vision sensor analysis, process layout improvement, or defect trend analysisDocument work instructions, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and engineering reportsAttend team meetings and present project progress or findings
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
Currently enrolled in a Bachelors degree program in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related fieldCompleted at least 2 years of academic coursework
Skills and Competencies:
Strong analytical and problem-solving skillsProficient in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with PowerPoint, Word, and AutoCAD is a plusAbility to work in a fast-paced, hands-on manufacturing environmentGood verbal and written communication skillsTeam-oriented with a proactive and self-motivated attitudeBasic knowledge of lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or quality tools preferredExposure to PLCs, vision systems, or manufacturing automation preferredPrior co-op or internship experience in a production or technical environment preferred
Working Conditions:
This position typically operates in an office environment.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit for extended periods while working at a computer. Occasional lifting of items up to 20 lbs.
Frequent walking, standing, and bending as needed to perform duties.
