Quality Manager Position Overview We are seeking a high-energy, process-driven Quality / Reliability Engineer to serve as our on-site Plant Vehicle Team (PVT) resident representative. In this critical role, you will act as the primary liaison between Supplier Technical Assistance (STA), plant management, and external suppliers. Your mission is to protect the assembly line and the customer by aggressively managing incoming part quality, driving swift supplier containment, and resolving high-stakes quality issues in real time.
Key Responsibilities Supplier Containment & Crisis Management:
Lead the containment of special cause supplier process issues. Provide early notification to the STA Site team regarding potential stop-shipments, assist with vehicle on-hold/release tracking, and ensure proper root-cause owners are identified for Preventive Action Closure (PAC).
Plant-to-Supplier Liaison:
Act as the direct PVT resident supplier representative on the manufacturing floor. Lead supplier preparation for Vehicle Quality Reviews (VQRs) and assist non-responsive suppliers in meeting plant expectations.
Issue Resolution & Data Accuracy:
Support Quality Reject (QR) procedures by reviewing threshold QRs, supporting concern binning, and providing data-driven support for dispute resolution. Partner with suppliers and plant teams to ensure QR/PPM (Parts Per Million) data accuracy.
Warranty Tracking:
Drive the swift resolution of external supplier process "Zero Months in Service" (0 MIS) warranty concerns through immediate supplier notification and robust containment verification.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Participate in plant Whiteboard and Variability Reduction Team (VRT) meetings on an exception basis, aligning with the VRT on Supplier Process BSAQ Glidepath values.
Accountability:
Administer the formal part quality confirmation process for suppliers with repetitive containment failures. Monitor daily production reports to escalate issues requiring site STA awareness or intervention.
Qualifications & Requirements Required:
Education:
Bachelor's Degree.
Experience:
Proven quality engineering experience within an active plant manufacturing environment .
Core Automotive Tools:
Deep practical knowledge of AIAG standards, specifically APQP and PPAP processes.
Problem-Solving:
Strong, structured troubleshooting and auditing capabilities (e.g., 8D, 5-Why, Fishbone).
Communication:
Exceptional communication and team-building skills, with the assertiveness needed to manage non-responsive suppliers and align cross-functional stakeholders.
Preferred:
Experience specifically focused on automotive Powertrain systems (Engine, Transmission, E-Drive, or Driveline). Certification or practical application of Six Sigma Methodology .
