Position Description We are seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) to ensure the quality, reliability, and performance of components and materials supplied for our data center manufacturing operations. This role is critical in developing and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers, driving continuous improvement, and ensuring compliance with quality standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in engineering or manufacturing quality, with the ability to analyze supplier performance, resolve issues, and drive proactive quality improvements.
Key Responsibilities Supplier Quality Management:
Develop and implement supplier quality standards, ensuring compliance with company and industry requirements. Conduct supplier audits, assessments, and process reviews to verify adherence to specifications and quality expectations. Monitor and evaluate supplier performance using key quality metrics (PPM, on-time delivery, corrective actions, etc.)
Issue Resolution and Continuous Improvement:
Investigate non-conforming materials, coordinate root cause analysis (RCA), and drive corrective/preventative actions (CAPA) with suppliers. Collaborate with suppliers to implement process improvements that enhance quality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness. 8D, Six Simga, DMAIC, etc. to drive sustainable improvements.
New Supplier & Product Development:
Work with engineering and procurement teams to qualify new suppliers and validate new components through PPAP, APQP, or FAI processes. Review supplier manufacturing processes, quality controls, end testing protocols to ensure compliance with
ISO 9001
standards. Support design for manufacturability (DFM) initiatives by engaging suppliers early in the development process.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Partner with engineering, manufacturing, and procurement teams to ensure smooth integration of supplier components into production. Work closely with internal quality teams to resolve supplier-related issues and maintain high product quality. Support supplier business reviews, providing data-driven insights and recommendations. Required Education & Qualifications 2+ years in supplier quality, manufacturing quality, or a related role (experience in industrial HVAC, refrigeration, or data center cooling preferred). Understanding of manufacturing processes, experience with quality tools, and knowledge of
ISO 9001
Strong analytical mindset with experience using 8D, RCA, CAPA, Six Sigma, or Lean methodologies. Ability to work effectively with internal teams and external suppliers to resolve issues and drive improvements. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical Engineering, or related field. Willingness to travel to supplier locations as needed (domestic and international). Modine is an equal opportunity employer.
