Full Job Description Overview:
Position Summary The Supply Chain Quality Engineer is a mid-level individual contributor responsible for coordinating and supporting quality activities across the supply chain, including Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), inspections, investigations, Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA), First Article Inspections (FAIs), Nonconformance Reports (NCRs), and supplier-related issues. This role works closely with suppliers and internal cross-functional teams to ensure compliance, resolve quality concerns, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. In addition, this position supports internal Quality Management System (QMS) audits and ongoing compliance activities. The position reports to the Supply Chain Quality Manager / QMS Systems Manager.
Work Structure Standard schedule:
Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Minimal travel (approximately 10%) for supplier audits and support Primarily office-based with frequent presence on the shop floor PPE required when working in production areas
Responsibilities:
Roles and Responsibilities Support supplier approval processes and ongoing supplier performance monitoring Support supplier audits, as needed Conduct supplier audits (on-site and remote), including process, product, and system audits Conduct internal Quality Management System (QMS) audits as required Support internal audit activities, including documentation and corrective action follow-up Facilitate Supply Chain Quality Review Board (QRB) meetings Coordinate containment of nonconforming material in stock and work-in-process (WIP) Develop and implement Inspection Containment Actions (ICA), Corrective and Containment Actions (CCA), and Standard Inspection Plans (SIP) Lead and support root cause investigations using structured methodologies (e.g., 8D, 5 Whys) Create and manage Nonconformance Reports (NCRs) and related quality documentation in QCBD or similar systems Provide real-time shop floor support for quality investigations and issue resolution Analyze quality data to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities Develop clear reporting (charts, dashboards, and summaries) to support decision-making Apply and monitor key quality metrics, including DPU and PPM Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, and Supply Chain to drive corrective actions and process improvements Success Metrics Reduction in supplier-related defects (PPM/DPU) Timely and effective closure of NCRs and RCCAs Improved supplier audit outcomes and performance Reduction in repeat nonconformances Accurate and actionable quality reporting Timely completion of assigned audit activities and corrective action follow-up
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably aerospace Working knowledge of ISO 9001, AS9100, and AS9102 Experience with dimensional inspection and measurement equipment Experience supporting or participating in internal audits Proficiency in GD&T Experience working on cross-functional teams Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and present data Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint Preferred Qualifications Supplier Quality experience Familiarity with Nadcap and special processes Experience with Statistical Process Control (SPC) Experience with Power Query or advanced Excel tools Experience with CMM, CATIA, Verisurf, or Romer Arm Core Competencies Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis capability Effective communication skills, including supplier interaction Ability to influence cross-functional teams and support continuous improvement efforts Detail-oriented with strong organizational and documentation skills Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment Ability to identify compliance gaps and improvement opportunities within quality processes Technical Skills Microsoft Office Suite (Excel and PowerPoint required) Working knowledge of MRP/ERP systems Experience with quality documentation systems (e.g., QCBD or similar) Mathematical Ability Ability to apply concepts of algebra, geometry, and trigonometry. Reasoning Ability Ability to solve practical problems and interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to work through situations with limited standardization.
