Packaging Engineer - Corrugate

Summary :

This position is responsible for the development, implementation, and improvement of primary and secondary corrugate packaging across multiple product lines, as well as cost reduction and process/manufacturing continuous improvement projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Improve productivity, line speed, efficiency, reduce waste, and eliminate bottlenecks associated with packaging components and fill line equipment to enhance company OEE. Direct the execution of Lean initiatives, targeted towards improving company's performance on safety, quality, delivery, and cost associated to packaging material. Assess and diagnose root cause to implement corrective actions for production line efficiencies. Serve as technical liaison to our internal and external stakeholders. Develop designs, specifications, samples, and written analysis of new or proposed packaging solutions. Conduct package testing protocols to include filling, capping, warehouse, and ship tests. Review and approve packaging mold qualifications and manufacturing line trials. Provide key technical support for packaging quality deviations and corrective and preventive actions. Ability to conduct capacity studies and identify/implement productivity improvements for new technologies or packaging. Lead technical expert for UN and 49 CFR regulations as it pertains to hazardous material shipments. Develop/deliver technical training for various levels of the organization and suppliers as needed. Education Requirements:

Bachelor's degree with emphasis on packaging/industrial engineering or related business field.

Experience Requirements:

5+ years' experience with packaging engineering preferably in personal care industry. Experience with corrugate in a manufacturing environment Proficient with 3D modeling and pallet configuration software such as SolidWorks and TOPS. Working knowledge of 49 CFR regulations, UN Certification, ISTA and ASTM standards. Familiar with Lean principles and Six Sigma.
