Director of Engineering/Director of Distribution Scope of PositionThe Industrial Engineer leads process evaluation, warehouse design, engineering analysis, and procurement activities to support Expeditors' distribution network. This role drives consistency, scalability, and efficiency across facilities through data-driven design, standardization, and continuous improvement initiatives. The position partners closely with Operations, IT, and leadership to deliver high-quality, modern warehouse solutions that optimize performance and support customer growth.
Major Duties and ResponsibilitiesIdentify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to drive efficiency, productivity, and cost control across existing warehouse operationsEvaluate and design optimal facility layouts, storage configurations, process workflows, labor models, and material handling equipment solutions for both new and existing warehousesLead engineering analysis, design execution, and procurement efforts for new facility start-ups and network expansionsDevelop and present data-driven recommendations and project deliverables to internal stakeholders and leadershipCollaborate cross-functionally to establish, maintain, and elevate Expeditors' warehouse design and operational standards, ensuring consistency and scalability across the networkSupport customer solutions by developing detailed engineering responses, including facility layouts, process flows, and infrastructure requirementsDisseminate best practices and standardized processes across assigned geographic regionsEvaluate emerging warehouse technologies and automation solutions; assess applicability and lead implementation of approved initiativesQualificationsQualifications, Experience and Education RequirementsBachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or a related engineering discipline1-4 years of relevant industry experience in warehouse, distribution, or supply chain environmentsStrong analytical, problem-solving, and presentation skills with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insightsProven ability to communicate clearly and concisely across all levels of the organizationStrong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively in cross-functional teamsProficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Project, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and OneNoteWillingness to travel up to 50%Additional InformationExpeditors offers excellent benefitsPaid Vacation, Holiday, Sick Time
