April 28, 2026 : #Eng-IT-01 We are seeking a skilled SMT Process Engineer to support the development, optimization, and sustainment of Surface Mount Technology (SMT) processes within a high-volume PCBA manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for ensuring process stability, improving yield, and maintaining product quality through hands-on engineering support, data-driven analysis, and cross-functional collaboration. The ideal candidate will play a key role in New Product Introduction (NPI), process validation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop, configure, and optimize SMT manufacturing processes from NPI through mass production Drive yield improvement and process stability across SMT lines (stencil printing, placement, reflow, inspection) Perform root cause analysis (RCA) on SMT defects (e.g., bridging, tombstoning, voiding, insufficient solder) and implement corrective/preventive actions Support SMT line setup, validation, and qualification, including process parameter development and DOE (Design of Experiments) Partner with Design and NPI teams to conduct Design for Manufacturability (DFM) reviews and support product launches Create and maintain process documentation (SOPs, work instructions, PFMEA, control plans) Monitor KPIs such as yield, defect rate, cycle time, and OEE; drive continuous improvement initiatives Support line balancing, capacity planning, and throughput optimization Provide technical support and training to production teams on SMT processes and best practices Collaborate with Quality and Test Engineering to resolve manufacturing issues and improve reliability Evaluate and implement new materials, equipment, and process technologies Support customer audits, line tours, and technical discussions
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field 5+ years of experience in SMT process engineering or PCBA manufacturing Hands-on experience supporting SMT production lines and equipment Strong knowledge of SMT processes including solder paste printing, component placement, reflow soldering, and inspection Experience with root cause analysis methodologies (5 Whys, 8D, Fishbone) Experience with Design of Experiments (DOE) and process validation Familiarity with IPC standards (IPC-A-610, J-STD-001) Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) Benefits PEAK's benefit offerings available for our associates include medical, dental, vision, Flexible Spending Account (FSA), Dependent Care Savings Account (DCA), and 401K plan.
