Packaging Engineer Location:
Waco, TX Duration:
6+ Months Contract Job Summary GMP Pros is seeking an experienced Packaging Engineer with strong hands-on centerlining expertise to support packaging operations within a GMP-regulated manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will have a proven background in packaging line optimization, changeover reduction, DOE execution, and improving overall line efficiency while supporting live production activities. This role requires strong floor presence, technical troubleshooting skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively across Operations, QA, Maintenance, and Engineering teams. Key Responsibilities Execute packaging line centerlining activities and drive process optimization initiatives Conduct DOE studies and establish optimized operating parameters for packaging processes Reduce changeover times utilizing Lean Manufacturing and SMED methodologies Troubleshoot packaging equipment and provide hands-on support during live production operations Develop SOPs, centerline standards, control plans, and process documentation Analyze OEE, downtime trends, and packaging performance metrics to improve operational efficiency Collaborate cross-functionally with QA, Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering teams Ensure compliance with GMP regulations and support deviation investigations and change control activities Support packaging trials, process improvements, and operational readiness initiatives Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline 5-10+ years of Packaging Engineering experience within GMP-regulated industries Strong hands-on experience with packaging line centerlining and changeover reduction Experience executing DOE studies and packaging process optimization activities Hands-on troubleshooting experience supporting production packaging lines Experience within pharmaceutical, biotech, medical device, or animal health manufacturing environments is required Strong communication and problem-solving skills within fast-paced manufacturing settings Preferred Qualifications Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma certification preferred Experience working with packaging equipment such as fillers, cappers, labelers, cartoners, or blister lines Familiarity with SAP, MES, Minitab, Power BI, or similar manufacturing and analytics tools Experience supporting continuous improvement initiatives within GMP environments
Pay:
$50.00 - $55.00 per hour
