Full-Time Internship (Onsite) Position Summary We are seeking a hands-on and detail-driven Industrial Engineer Intern to support our manufacturing operations by developing, documenting, and improving production work instructions. This role is ideal for a student interested in manufacturing, industrial engineering, operations, or process improvement who wants real-world experience on a live production floor. Our company manufactures dehumidifiers onsite in Madison, and this intern will spend the summer working directly with production supervisors, operations teams, and engineers to document current assembly processes and translate them into clear, standardized work instructions to improve consistency, quality, and efficiency. Key Responsibilities Observe and document production and assembly processes on the manufacturing floor Develop clear, accurate, and easy-to-follow work instructions for dehumidifier production Create visual aids such as photos, diagrams, and step-by-step guides to support instructions Collaborate with production operators, supervisors, and engineers to validate accuracy Ensure work instructions align with safety, quality, and operational standards Identify inconsistencies, gaps, or improvement opportunities during documentation Update existing work instructions as processes change or improve Organize and maintain documentation in accordance with standard operating procedures Support continuous improvement initiatives within operations as needed
Qualifications Required:
Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Operations Management, Mechanical Engineering, Business, or a related field Strong attention to detail and ability to document processes accurately Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment and on the production floor Strong written communication skills with the ability to simplify technical processes Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel; PowerPoint) Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross-functional teams
Preferred:
Exposure to manufacturing or production environments Familiarity with standard work, lean manufacturing, or process documentation Experience creating technical or procedural documentation Interest in continuous improvement, quality, or operations
