• Full-time Our client is a leading chemical manufacturer for the consumer, industrial, and agricultural industries seeking a Senior Buyer
• Packaging for their headquarters in the Madison, WI area. They offer an extensive benefit package (including 24/7 on-site fitness center), salary range of $75K
• $90K, target bonus, profit sharing, and holiday bonus.

Minimal relocation benefits available.

Job responsibilities include:

• Establish and maintain long-term vendor relationships with reliable suppliers
• Negotiate terms and discounts; research new suppliers when appropriate
• Order appropriate levels of packaging to meet production schedule/customer commitments and assist in qualifying replacements in case of shortages
• Plan purchases to maximize volume discounts and minimize freight costs
• Provide suppliers with regular forecasts to enhance their ability to deliver on time
• Review and update packaging sizes and art-work changes; work with sales/marketing to design and create new packaging
• Communicate and coordinate changes in orders with the Production Control Supervisor
• Negotiate price changes with suppliers and report adjustments to internal stakeholders
• Help develop and prepare regular performance metrics for the department
• Address quality issues with suppliers and coordinate resolutions
• Evaluate sustainability of purchases to help meet corporate responsibility goals and reduce disposal costs
• Review, organize and improve files for material specs
• Work collectively and continuously to identify short
• and long-term cost reduction opportunities with clear accountability for implementation
• Must be able to work honestly and with integrity with a strong attention to detail The following qualifications must be met to be considered for the position:
• Associate degree with 7-10 years of relevant packaging buying experience OR
• BS/BA
• Supply chain with 5+ years of relevant packaging buying experience
• ISM and/or APICS Certification preferred
• Experience with IFS is a plus.
• Experience with retail packaging and complex packaging
• Effective written and verbal communication skills and strong math skills

Pay:

$75,000.00
