Job Description

Position Summary Description This position reports to assigned O&M Supervisor and is responsible for the safe and efficient field operations and routine maintenance of Midulla Generating Station in accordance with approved plant procedures and practices. Plant Technician II will maintain Plant Technician II qualifications. Qualifications and Education Requirements A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Completion of a formal, accredited or certified maintenance craft training program or related Military experience is desirable. Additional college level coursework in math and science desirable. 1) Prior Operations experience in a Generating Station or similar Industrial Facility is required. 2) Prior Operations experience in a Combined Cycle Plant is desirable. 3) Prior Maintenance experience in mechanical, electrical, or Instrument crafts is desirable. Ability to qualify and maintain competency in the following skill areas is required: a. Operations (outside of control room) b. Basic Instrument & Electrical Maintenance c. Basic Mechanical Maintenance d. All Site-Specific Safety Standards e. All Site-Specific Environmental and Water Standards Competency will be demonstrated by a combination of written exams, oral boards and practical demonstrations. Must recertify annually as a Plant Technician II. Must have the ability to function effectively as a team member.

Attention to detail Verbal and written communication Teamwork Dependability/reliability Following written/verbal instructions Problem solving Self-motivated Essential Functions Takes direction for plant operations from on-shift Operations Specialist. O&M Supervisor. Informs Operations Specialist and O&M Supervisor of plant status and equipment condition. Ensures the safe, effective, and efficient operations of the plant during his shift Complies with Environmental, Health & Safety Guidelines, as well as all operating permits and regulations. Report all safety concerns. Operates Plant equipment in accordance with all Approved Operating Procedures. Extract, comprehend and develop instructions from technical manuals, journals, and drawings, technical literature and other job related material. Effectively utilizes approved casualty procedures, including the Emergency Response Plan. Assists Operations Specialist and O&M Supervisor as required. Effectively monitors plant equipment operations through log taking, visual, and hands on plant monitoring in the field. Troubleshoots abnormal plant conditions prior to the condition becoming critical. Conducts a thorough turnover when passing on or receiving duties from another technician. Monitors cycle chemistry. Offload bulk deliveries of plant chemicals and demineralizer trailers. Properly use and operate all necessary hand and power tools. Implements the field portion of the Lock-out Tag-out program. Perform basic Instrumentation, Electrical, and Mechanical Maintenance as assigned. Performs routine and preventive maintenance as assigned. Performs housekeeping/preservation duties as assigned. Identifies and tags plant deficiencies and initiates work orders in accordance with plant procedures when appropriate. Document plant conditions and occurrences. Strive to continuously improve performance by being a supportive team member to meet or exceed goals. Completes required initial and recertification training as outlined in the appropriate qualification standard. Functions as a member of the Emergency Response Team. Perform other duties as applicable to the position or as assigned. Troubleshoot, plan and perform basic maintenance on all plant equipment. Write operation and maintenance procedures and submits for approval as needed or assigned. Assist in the training and qualification of new Plant Technicians. Monitor assigned contract personnel activities during maintenance or projects. Must be self-motivated and capable of performing required tasks or duties with little or no direction Physical Requirements Must be able to follow established protective measures including wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE). Must possess a valid driver s license and acceptable Motor Vehicle Report. Hardhat, work shoes, NFPA 70E compliant clothing, and safety glasses must be worn in the plant. Working Conditions While working in certain areas of the plant there is the potential for exposure to hazards typical of an industrial working environment. Must be able to follow established protective measures including, wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE). Will work in all areas of the plant site, both indoors and outdoors. Will work a rotating shift. Will be expected to access all areas of the plant for inspection, operation and maintenance. Entry into confined spaces is required. Working conditions include accessing equipment at heights of 150 feet via stairs and/or ladders, areas of high voltage, high pressure and high temperature fluids, compressed air, high pressure hydraulic and rotating equipment. Hardhat, work shoes, NFPA 70E compliant clothing, and safety glasses must be worn in the plant. Other personal protective equipment required as indicated by hazard analysis.
