Job Description
Position:
Full-time Mechanical Technician Schedule:
First shift will be Monday - Friday from 7:30 AM to 4 PM. Must be able to work weekends when asked for repairs or installations that can't happen during normal operation and be flexible to respond to emergency call-outs for second shift.Job Summary:
The Mechanical Technician is responsible for keeping the production lines operating at peak efficiency, including but not limited to: parts replacement/repair of equipment, providing technical guidance on the mechanical systems of the operating units and equipment within the Facilities. This role maintains and improves the safety, overall reliability, and operating cost of mechanical (rotating equipment) and fixed assets. The Mechanical Technician assists in the development of strategies to manage assets at peak performance specific to the preventative maintenance and predictive maintenance best practices to optimize lifetime return on investment and mitigate reliability risk in support of long-term sustainable performance. Documentation of repairs in log books required and weekly reports of activities that are in alignment and support of responsibilities. Duties and Responsibilities Daily maintenance and repair of production equipment as required. Learn operations and evaluate preventative and predictive maintenance plans and procedures to identify anomalies, defects, and provide a prognosis. Create maintenance procedures where needed and updates to existing procedures. Apply best practices and principles to lead equipment root cause failure analysis. Work within the MOC management of change process. Maintain open and effective communications with operations, maintenance, spare-part inventory and replenishment, and production line technicians and line leaders. Liaise with the Production Engineer developing, writing, and implementing preventative and predictive maintenance. Performing quality control, taking, monitoring, and trending qualitative and quantitative readings. Monitor and analyze data identifying anomalies, defects, and prognosis and recommending countermeasures to avoid unplanned maintenance. Developing maintenance policies and procedures, set points, diagnosis, prognosis, and key performance indicators. Provide technical advice/support to Maintenance and Operations as requested. Quality of communications, both written and oral is a critical requirement, with the aim of ensuring clarity and uniformity in understanding across all parties involved in a particular task. Other duties and projects as assigned.Skills and Abilities:
High school diploma or equivalent with proven experience as a Mechanical Technician or similar role. Proficient in reading technical drawings and manuals. Must be able to demonstrate comprehension of work procedures and instructions. Exceptional problem-solving, troubleshooting, and reasoning ability. Self-motivated, team orientated, and good interpersonal skills. Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel. Technically proficient in all areas of maintenance processes. Preferred experience with repairs and replacements on belts, conveyors, bearings, sensors, and air cylinders. Excellent tactile skills and mechanical proficiency in all types of hand and power tools and take precautions not to gall stainless steel fasteners, such as nuts and bolts with threads. Demonstrate competent use and understanding of multi-meter functions (AC/DC voltage, continuity, amperage, etc.) and know when and how to use each function for troubleshooting purposes. Welding, working safely around live AC or DC circuits, and familiarity with lock-out-tag-out procedure is preferred. Able to perform tasks consistently and accurately. Flexibility in the work environment, performing a variety of tasks. Able to show sustained concentration and prolonged commitment to job tasks.Physical Requirements:
Must be able be able to work in tight spaces without damaging or disrupting sensitive equipment sensors. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and/or to assist in lifting up to 100 lbs.Job Type:
