Job Description

Job Title:
Manufacturing Engineer Job Description The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for developing manufacturing processes and maximizing efficiency by analyzing equipment layouts, workflows, and assembly methods. This role involves determining the necessary tooling, fixtures, and equipment to achieve manufacturing goals, designing fixtures and tooling, and collaborating with R D to ensure product manufacturability. The position requires familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within an
ISO9001/AS9100D
facility, and relies on team input, experience, and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Responsibilities Ensure successful transitioning of new products from product development to production. Confer with R D Engineering, Production/Manufacturing, Quality, and Materials staff to discuss project specifications and procedures. Assess manufacturability of products with R D Engineering. Participate in design reviews and approval phases. Evaluate tooling or equipment requirements to support production/manufacturing. Support design changes of products once they enter production. Assist in the development of inspection criteria with Quality Control. Support Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) activities associated with development and production/manufacturing problems. Create, maintain, and improve processes, workflows, and process documentation. Develop and/or improve assembly fixtures in support of development and production of products. Create and submit Engineering Change Requests to Engineering for review and approval. Review and approve Engineering Change Orders. Work with the Materials Group to develop and implement technical requirements for suppliers. Coordinate and/or participate in supplier assessment and work with suppliers to resolve issues. Maintain product Bill of Materials in ERP system. Work with cross-functional teams to create and maintain Methods of Manufacturing within the ERP system. Collaborate with QA on Production & Manufacturing issues and inspection criteria. Coordinate/support non-conforming product disposition by working with the Production/Quality department. Provide technical engineering expertise to Production & Manufacturing. Support the APQP process including PFMEA, Control Plans, and Process Flow. Create and maintain work instructions for production. Essential Skills 5-7 years working in a Manufacturing environment. Must be a ITAR eligible Strong problem-solving and organizational skills. Self-motivated with excellent communication, interpersonal, and training skills. Ability to work with little or no supervision. Demonstrated proficiency in SolidWorks. General knowledge of welding, machining, and overall manufacturing processes and equipment. Experience interfacing with suppliers to support process development and cost reduction for new products. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Experience working with military specifications and requirements. Additional Skills & Qualifications Preferred Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. Experience with ERP systems, specifically Epicor 10. 5 years of development of work instructions in regulated environments (DoD, Aerospace, Auto). Experience in mechanical engineering, product development engineering, mechanical design, and Excel data analysis. Experience in writing work instructions, test and fixture design. Work Environment The manufacturing and design & test activities are conducted at the same location in Arizona. Engineers are expected to operate SolidWorks proficiently without ramp-up time. The environment values versatility, preferring experience in small companies where engineers wear multiple hats, over highly specialized big company experience. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chandler, AZ. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $36.08 - $50.48/hr.
