SUMMARY OF POSITION
The intern will collaborate closely with the Flight Deck Leader in eliminating process waste, optimizing workflows, and improving operational efficiency. In addition to team-based efforts, the role will include individual assignments designed to provide hands-on, real-world experience in applying Lean within an aerospace manufacturing environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Process Mapping:
Assist in creating Value Stream Maps (VSM) and detailed process flowcharts to visualize material and information flows.
Data Collection & Analysis:
Conduct time studies, track cycle times, and analyze operational metrics such as production rate attainment and scrap rates. 5
S Workplace Organization:
Participate in and audit 5S initiatives (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain) across shop floors or office spaces.
Root Cause Analysis:
Support problem-solving efforts using tools like the 5 Whys and Fishbone Diagrams to diagnose process inefficiencies.
Kaizen Events:
Assist in preparing, documenting, and tracking action items for rapid improvement (Kaizen) events.
Standardized Work:
Help draft and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to lock in process improvements Other job duties as assigned
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILTIES
This position will not direct the work of any other employees.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Industrial engineering, Operations Management, Supply Chain, Business Analytics, or a related field.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (data analysis) and diagramming software like Microsoft Visio or Lucidchart.
Lean Knowledge:
Basic understanding of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Continuous Improvement methodologies is highly preferred.
Soft Skills:
Strong analytical problem-solving skills, excellent communication, and the ability to work effectively with diverse, cross-functional teams. US Citizen or Green Card Holder Share job details to
