Manufacturing Engineer Job Description As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will be responsible for all technical aspects of assigned projects. Your role will encompass ensuring compliance with procurement specifications, validating manufacturing processes, and initiating product manufacturability. You will be pivotal in reviewing and approving planning documents, leading Advanced Quality Planning (AQP), and directing tooling requirements while creating Visual Work Instructions (VWI). Meeting cost targets and eliminating waste are key aspects of this role, along with providing clear work instructions for parts and assemblies. Responsibilities Ensure compliance with customer and internal requirements for manufacturing processes. Initiate and drive product manufacturability and review planning document releases. Lead Advanced Quality Planning (AQP) and summarize tooling requirements. Create and maintain Visual Work Instructions (VWI) and ensure cost targets are met. Eliminate waste from manufacturing processes and provide clear work instructions. Apply operation time standards and develop Work Combination Sheets (WCS). Ensure manufacturability of parts and assemblies and provide technical guidance. Develop supplier processes and correct supplier issues as needed. Lead the initial manufacturing cycle for new product introductions. Adhere to delivery schedules and work with relevant teams for schedule adjustments. Evaluate and improve manufacturing processes for effectiveness. Identify and implement cost reduction ideas and lead special initiatives. Provide technical support and lead Production Support Teams to resolve issues. Perform root cause analysis and implement preventive actions. Document and validate manufacturing processes for various materials. Ensure documentation and implementation of engineering changes. Coordinate and drive tooling design related to manufacturing processes. Develop manufacturing processes based on company capabilities. Check production drawings for technical content and recommend solutions. Support the quoting process with data and relevant information. Coach and support other engineers in process improvement projects. Essential Skills 7+ years of engineering experience with a degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline. Experience in Aerospace manufacturing environments. Strong knowledge of sheet metal and aerospace materials. Familiarity with sheet metal processes such as welding, forming, and NDT. Understanding of geometric tolerance and continuous improvement. Additional Skills & Qualifications M.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering or another Engineering discipline with 6+ years of relevant experience. Experience in project management and process improvement in an aerospace setting. Work Environment This is an onsite position with a straight 40-hour work week, Monday through Friday. The schedule is flexible with start times between 6 am and 8 am, allowing for personal commitments such as child drop-offs. The work environment is collaborative, with 15 team members including Manufacturing Engineers and planners. You will be stationed in the main building, contributing to a growing company with opportunities to engage with various teams and projects.
