Summary:
A manufacturing engineer is responsible for performing various engineering activities in order to provide technical support in the manufacturing process, ensure compliance with customer and industry requirements, assist in planning and production procedures, and support continuous improvement efforts. The engineer ensures the utilization of best engineering practices to achieve production, quality, and safety goals and overall business objectives. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or a technical-related field, or 5 years of equivalent experience in a manufacturing environment with CNC Machining required. Knowledge of engineering practices, manufacturing processes, machining methods and techniques, and inspection requirements. Experience with AS9100 and aerospace industry requirements. Strong understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T) - ANSI 14.5Y. Experience developing and implementing manufacturing processes and procedures. Knowledge of root cause and corrective action techniques. Ability to compose technical documents and effectively convey technical information. Ability to read and understand blueprints, drawings, and other work instructions. Ability to read and use various inspection tools. Proficient in Microsoft Suite (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and CAD programs (Siemens NX preferred) Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. This position must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization, as well as customers. Strong planning, project management, and organizational skills. Good problem solving and decision-making abilities. Experience with 5S and continuous improvement practices Detail Oriented Fluent in English. Bilingual (German and/or Spanish) desired. Ability to write reports and business correspondence, and effectively present information and respond to questions. Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Other duties may be assigned) Analyze and improve manufacturing processes and methods to reduce costs, improve quality, and increase efficiency. Review Engineering Specifications to determine product requirements. Develop optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with product specifications and quality standards. Conduct contract reviews by evaluating customer purchase orders, drawings, as well as all purchase order/drawing supplements and creating manufacturing plans based on information gathered from documents. Create manufacturing documentation, such as planning, work instructions, sketches, technique sheets and all supporting documentation needed during the production process. Project management tasks including tasks list, project status, communication, budget, and reporting Develop tooling and shop aids as necessary Conduct capability studies and gather data to select appropriate manufacturing methods. Carry out corrective and preventative actions as instructed by customers and industry oversight committees. Provide technical oversight to shop personnel during all phases of manufacturing. Communicate manufacturing intent, preference, and capabilities with customers, suppliers, and industry. Support investigations, develop activities, and conduct process improvement studies. Exhibit and utilize a thorough knowledge of modern manufacturing methods such as: turning, milling, multiple axis machining, gear/spline machining, grinding, honing, and each discipline's capabilities. Assist in special process (shot peen, non-destructive testing, heat treat, etc.), customer, and industry audits. Know and execute PAS Management system procedures Maintain working knowledge of company products and services. Manage expectations and projects with a professional attitude by complying with company policies and procedures. Willingness to support company training and cross functional efforts. Some travel may be required for training and/or production support, as necessary. Perform duties in a safe, efficient manner in compliance with safety rules and regulations.
