Role Description This is a full-time on-site role for an Engineered Wood Designer based in Modesto, CA. The Engineered Wood Designer will draft and design engineered wood components, including roof trusses, wall designs, and floor systems. Responsibilities include reading and interpreting architectural plans, preparing and reviewing structural layouts, collaborating with clients and internal stakeholders, and ensuring compliance with design and safety standards. The candidate will also troubleshoot and resolve issues arising during the design or manufacturing process. Qualifications Proficiency in drafting and design tools such as AutoCAD, MiTek and associated software for creating engineered wood designs. Knowledge of architectural plans, structural layouts, and building codes. Experience with wall panels, joists, and floor systems in residential or commercial construction. Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and the ability to solve design-related issues efficiently. Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with clients, contractors, and internal teams. Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field is preferred. Prior experience in the construction or manufacturing industry is highly advantageous. Responsibilities Design and engineer full floor systems, joists, beams, etc. using MiTek software. Interpret architectural, structural, and construction drawings to develop accurate and buildable component designs. Review project plans and specifications to ensure constructability, completeness, and compliance with applicable codes and engineering requirements. Generate detailed shop drawings, panel layouts, material takeoffs, and manufacturing documentation. Collaborate with customers, contractors, engineers, and internal teams to address design changes and project requirements. Assist with value engineering efforts to improve efficiency, reduce material costs, and optimize manufacturing processes. Maintain project schedules and manage multiple design projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines. Support product research, development, and continuous improvement initiatives.
