Manufacturing Engineer Job Description The Manufacturing Engineer oversees the activities associated with the planning, development, implementation, and maintenance of manufacturing methods, processes, and operations for new and existing products. This role ensures the effective use of materials, equipment, and personnel to produce quality products at minimum costs. The engineer will develop, implement, and maintain methods, operation sequences, and processes in the manufacture and fabrication of parts, which includes estimating manufacturing costs, time standards, and recommending tooling and process requirements for new and existing products. Acting as a liaison with internal and external customers in releasing new products, the engineer will also participate in the selection, development, and evaluation of personnel to ensure efficient operation. Additionally, the role provides high-level technical expertise to project or program planning, task layouts, technical calculations, design and analysis functions, technical report writing, presentations, and other engineering functions. Responsibilities Provide significant expertise in developing a range of engineering solutions to improve the manufacture of new and existing products. Improve current production processes to manufacture products using applicable methods and procedures. Transfer new products into production from a 'design for manufacturability' approach. Participate in developing and maintaining documentation for processes and designs. Understand key business drivers and use this understanding to accomplish work. Solve problems in straightforward situations and analyze possible solutions using technical experience, judgment, and precedents. Exercise independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance. Maintain regular, consistent, and punctual attendance, with the possibility of variable schedules and additional hours as needed. Essential Skills B.S. degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Industrial Engineering. 5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience in a manufacturing environment. Experience with AS9100 quality management system. Excellent working knowledge of GD&T. Self-starter with excellent time management skills and the ability to establish objectives and specify strategies to achieve them. Experience with marketing support and proposals, including excellent technical writing skills and cost estimating. Additional Skills & Qualifications 2+ years of experience with composite materials and processing techniques such as autoclave, RTM, and compression molding. Comfortable working in teams and independently. Ability to make technical, data-driven decisions with limited management support. Work Environment The work environment is a leading provider of complex, highly engineered composite and polymer solutions for demanding commercial and defense applications. Comprised of six purpose-built centers of excellence throughout the USA and Mexico, each strategically focused on serving specific markets across aerospace engines and airframes, as well as munitions, radomes, antennas, and fuel containment. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of San Diego, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $115000.00/yr.
