Job Description:
The Package Refurbishment & Upgrades (PRU) Controls Design Engineer is responsible for the design of turbine and driven equipment control systems and upgrades to existing fielded equipment, while meeting established expectations for quality and timeliness (driven equipment includes, but is not limited to, gas compressors, pumps, and industrial power generators). He or she will interface with PRU Project Application Engineering, PRU Project Management, PSO (D380) Operations, Mabank Operations, Regional Field Engineers, Field Project Engineers, and other departments to ensure that projects are well defined and meet the scope of supply. He or she will create the electrical schematic, console and package electrical wiring diagrams, interconnect wiring schedule, controller and display (HMI) software. Additionally, the candidate will support Project Management to develop and define custom requirements, as well as supporting the manufacturing and test organizations through successful completion of the project, maintaining a close liaison with Standards Engineering to ensure that design improvements are incorporated into the relevant standard database(s) and will participate in HAZOPS, customer design reviews, technical task risk assessments, Factory Pre-Commissioning (FPC), acceptance tests and support field personnel through equipment commissioning.
Minimum Requirements:
7+ years relevant experience, or 5+ years relevant experience with a Master's degree Bachelor's Degree in engineering Experience with control systems (PLC5, RSLogix, etc.)
Preferred:
Previous experience building electrical loop schematics, composing Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) code, and modifying Human Machine Interfaces (HMI). Experience with industrial applications or in the Oil and Gas field is a plus.

Knowledge of designing and engineering products and systems; ability to use principles of mathematics, science, and engineering to develop, analyze, and improve product or system specifications, functionality, and performance.
Product Testing:
Knowledge of product testing approaches, techniques and tools; ability to design, plan and execute testing strategies and tactics to ensure product quality at all stages of manufacturing.
Product Design and Development:
Knowledge of product features; ability to design, build, and develop a new product, technology, or service from concept through to production. Summary Pay Range:
$112,704.00 - $169,056.00 Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
