Engineering Overview A leading advanced electronics manufacturinganization is seeking a highly motivated Automation Engineer (Mechanical) to support the design, development, and implementation of automation solutions within a high-volume production environment. This role focuses on New Product Introduction (NPI), PCBA manufacturing, system assembly, and production automation initiatives for cutting-edge technology products. The ideal candidate brings strong mechanical engineering fundamentals along with hands-on experience in automation, fixture design, process optimization, and equipment integration, working cross-functionally to improve manufacturing efficiency, quality, and scalability. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and implement automated manufacturing equipment, tooling, fixtures, and workstations supporting PCBA and system-level assembly processes Support New Product Introduction (NPI) by developing scalable manufacturing solutions that enhance efficiency and quality Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Operations, Program Management) to support product development, prototype builds, and production ramp Create and maintain engineering documentation including mechanical drawings, BOMs, work instructions, specifications, and ECOs Generate detailed 2D drawings and BOMs from 3D CAD models and integrate with ERP systems Perform DFM (Design for Manufacturability), DFA (Design for Assembly), and process capability reviews Support First Article Inspection (FAI) and engineering validation builds Design and develop assembly fixtures, test fixtures, jigs, and poka-yoke systems to improve quality and throughput Identify opportunities for automation, labor reduction, cycle time improvement, and cost savings Partner with SMT, PCBA, system assembly, and test teams to improve production efficiency and equipment utilization Support equipment installation, qualification, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for manufacturing and equipment-related issues Lead product transfer activities across global manufacturing sites Interface with suppliers and automation vendors on equipment selection, design reviews, and FAT/SAT activities Stay current on automation technologies, robotics, machine vision, and Industry 4.0 trends Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Automation Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field Minimum 2+ years of experience in manufacturing, automation, or NPI environments Strong analytical, problem-solving, andmunication skills Solid understanding of manufacturing processes and automation principles Proficiency in CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo, AutoCAD, or similar) Experience creating mechanical drawings, GD&T, and engineering documentation Knowledge of DFM, DFA, FMEA, and process validation methodologies Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing environment Preferred Qualifications Experience in electronics manufacturing, PCBA, SMT, or system integration environments Familiarity with robotics, pneumatics, motion control, machine vision, and sensors Experience with ERP/SAP or PLM systems Background supporting server, AI, networking, or high-performanceputing products Experience with automation cells, conveyors, and material handling systems Familiarity with IPC standards Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies Exposure to Industry 4.0 or smart factory initiatives Prior project management or leadership experience is a plus Mandarin language skills preferred Compensation $80,000 - $105,000 annually
