5+ years in hands on Manufacturing, CNC Programming/Machining, 5-Axis, GD&T, Mastercam, Solidworks, Fanuc Controls Position Overview A fast-growing, engineering-driven aerospace manufacturing startup is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to help build and scale next-generation production systems for complex flight hardware (rockets and satellites). This is a high-impact role within a small, elite team, where you'll own projects end-to-end and contribute directly to the development of a modern, highly automated precision manufacturing environment. Key Responsibilities Develop and optimize manufacturing processes for complex, tight-tolerance components and assemblies Design process flows, tooling, and fixtures to improve repeatability, efficiency, and throughput Create and verify G-code and post-processed programs for Haas, Fanuc, Siemens and other controls; perform CNC simulation and dry-run verifications prior to shop implementation. Design and specify tooling, workholding, fixtures, and cutting tools; collaborate with tool vendors to select optimal solutions for productivity and repeatability. Troubleshoot machining issues at the machine and process levels, performing root cause analysis and implementing corrective and preventive actions. Develop and document standard work, process plans, setup sheets, and control plans consistent with APQP and PFMEA inputs and Collaborate cross-functionally with production, quality, and operations teams. Program and refine CAM strategies (3-5 axis machining, mill/turn) Collaborate with quality and metrology teams to ensure parts meet GD&T requirements; support CMM programming and SPC data collection for process control. Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma and other problem-solving tools to realize cycle time reduction and process optimization. Assist in ERP/MRP operations (SAP preferred) for routing, work instructions, and production scheduling; maintain accurate process documentation and change control. Support automation projects including robotics integration, PLC interfaces and industrial robot programming to improve throughput and ergonomics. Ensure compliance with industry standards including
ISO/AS9100
where applicable, and follow ITAR and customer-specific requirements for controlled parts. Qualifications BS, as Degree proferred, Equivalent experience will be considered Minimum 5 years hands-on experience in CNC programming and machining in a production environment, with demonstrable use of MasterCAM. Strong background in manufacturing process development and optimization Experience with Haas controls and Fanuc/Siemens controls including program verification and troubleshooting. Proven skills in tooling, fixture design, feeds & speeds optimization, cutting tool selection, and workholding strategies. Familiarity with CAD/CAM tools such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Siemens NX or equivalent; experience with CAD/CAM-to-CNC workflow and CNC simulation. Working knowledge of blueprint reading, GD&T, metrology practices, CMM usage, and SPC for process control. Demonstrated experience in process optimization, cycle time reduction, root cause analysis, troubleshooting and preventive maintenance. Experience or exposure to advanced topics is a plus: 5-axis/multi-axis machining, Swiss-type lathes, DFM, advanced tooling, EDM, PLCs, robotics integration, industrial robot programming, AI applications in manufacturing, and AS9100. Strong communication skills, ability to work cross-functionally with production, quality and supply chain, and a continuous improvement mindset. Ability to work onsite in a manufacturing environment; must adhere to safety, security and export control (ITAR) requirements where applicable.
