$150K per year We have an immediate opportunity for a Prototyping Developement Engineer•Softgoods is a hands-on role focused on building and refining early-stage prototypes to validate design intent, materials, and manufacturability. Working closely with Design Engineers, this individual translates concepts, CAD models, and tech packs into functional proof-of-concept prototypes using sewing, cutting, bonding, and assembly techniques. The role involves rapid iteration, modifying samples based on feedback, and defining efficient prototype-level processes for small-scale builds. As a designer-maker, the technician plays a critical role in bridging design and engineering by bringing ideas to life through practical fabrication and supporting early production setup activities. In addition to prototype creation, the technician supports equipment operation, materials handling, and testing activities to ensure product performance and build feasibility. They work with a wide range of softgoods materials and operate specialized machinery such as industrial sewing machines and cutting or bonding equipment, while maintaining safety and quality standards. The role also includes documenting build processes, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and providing feedback on tooling, construction methods, and design improvements. With strong craftsmanship, problem-solving ability, and attention to detail, this position contributes to improving product quality, efficiency, and readiness for manufacturing in a fast-paced development environment.
