Job Title:
Toolmaker / Assembly Technician Superior Skilled Trades is partnered with a company seeking a highly skilled and versatile Toolmaker / Assembler Technician to support multiple areas of their operation, including toolroom fabrication, mechanical/electro-mechanical assembly, and field service support.

40+ hours per week
Pay Range:
$35.00 - $40.00 per hour Position Summary This position is a key replacement role primarily focused on toolmaking and precision machining, with the added flexibility to support assembly operations and future field service work. The primary responsibility is a highly skilled Toolmaker capable of working independently in a precision machine shop environment. This includes running and setting up manual milling machines, CNC milling machines, OD grinders, surface grinders, and precision jig grinding equipment, as well as performing detailed inspection work. The ideal candidate will also have the mechanical aptitude to support assembly functions when needed and be open to developing into a field service role over time. This position is designed for a strong manufacturing professional who is flexible, adaptable, and willing to expand their skillset. Key Responsibilities Toolroom & Precision Manufacturing Set up and operate manual mills, CNC mills, OD grinders, surface grinders, and jig grinding equipment Machine and modify precision components, fixtures, and tooling Perform precision fitting, grinding, and bench work Interpret complex engineering drawings, GD&T, and technical specifications Conduct precision inspection and verification of finished components Utilize sine plates and advanced fixturing setups Apply strong mathematical and trigonometry skills to layout and machining tasks Assembly Support (As Needed) Assist with mechanical and electro-mechanical assembly of equipment Support integration of components such as sensors, actuators, and pneumatic systems Perform functional testing and basic equipment calibration Collaborate with team members to resolve build or fit issues Service & Field Support (Future Opportunity / Training Provided) Travel to customer sites for installation and equipment support after training Assist with setup, commissioning, troubleshooting, and repair activities Support upgrades and modifications in the field Represent the company professionally during customer interactions (
Note:
Extensive service experience is not required; training will be provided for candidates with strong toolmaking fundamentals and willingness to learn.) Required Qualifications Strong background as a toolmaker, machinist, or precision manufacturing technician Hands-on experience with manual machining and CNC milling equipment Experience with grinding operations (OD and surface grinding required) Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and GD&T Strong mathematical skills, including trigonometry for layout and machining Ability to work independently in a precision shop environment Willingness to support assembly and field service functions as needed Preferred Qualifications Experience with jig grinding and advanced precision machining Familiarity with sine plates and complex fixturing setups Exposure to electro-mechanical assembly or automation equipment CNC programming or setup experience Prior field service or installation exposure (not required) Key Attributes for Success Strong precision machining and problem-solving mindset High attention to detail and quality workmanship Flexible, adaptable, and willing to support multiple functions Strong communication and teamwork skills Interest in growing into assembly and field service responsibilities over time Why This Opportunity Hands-on role across toolroom, assembly, and future service opportunities Work with precision-built, custom-engineered equipment Long-term opportunity with skill growth and cross-training Stable, direct hire position in a specialized technical environment Benefits (Direct Hire Package)
Vacation:
1 week after 6 months; 2 weeks after 2 years; up to 4 weeks based on tenure (per employee handbook sliding scale)
