Job Description

Position Summary:
Design Engineer Location :
Hamden, CT Amphenol High Speed Products Group is the market leader for high speed, high bandwidth electrical connectors for the Telecom/Datacom market (Mobile Networks, Storage, Servers, Routers, Switches, etc.). Our products help to enable the electronics revolution and remain a key enabler for all the major Tier 1 OEM's globally. Our global headquarters is located in Nashua, NH and we have design, sales and manufacturing locations globally. We are currently seeking a Design Engineer to join our team at Amphenol Spectra-Strip in Hamden, CT.
Responsibilities:
The Design Engineer will take requirements from within the business unit and develop designs based on performance, cost and delivery. The Design Engineer will collaborate with manufacturing and engineering teams in US and Asia facilities to achieve business goals and objectives. Must be a hands on, growth-oriented individual who has internal drive to improve current processes and continually support the New Product Development team and manufacturing group worldwide. Provide direct support to the New Product Development team. Prepare engineering documentation for production and customers. Prepares mechanical studies, stack up/tolerance studies, design comparison studies, etc. Prepares conceptual studies, designs, reports, and proposals. Apply critical thinking approach for exploring new solutions, verifying product requirements, and delivering products to production.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering (4-year program). Strong interpersonal skills and polished written and verbal communication abilities. Highly organized, composed under pressure, and able to manage tight deadlines across multiple projects. Proficiency with Microsoft Office. Attention to detail.
Desired Technical & Professional Competencies:
Experience with new product development and introduction to volume manufacturing. Experience with CAD software - SolidWorks preferred. Experience with PLM and PDM file management software - Windchill preferred. Ability to absorb and synthesize large data pools to derived result insights. Adaptability, willingness to embrace change, and enthusiasm for tackling challenges.
