Job Description

Quality Engineer Location:
South Windsor, CT Must-Have Qualifications 7+ years of quality engineering experience in aerospace or highly regulated manufacturing Strong expertise in special processes: thermal spray, chemical processing (plating, anodizing, passivation), and coatings Working knowledge of Nadcap requirements and audit processes Experience with ISO 9001 and AS9100 quality standards Proven experience leading or supporting internal, customer, and third-party audits (including Nadcap) Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, or a related field (or equivalent experience) About the Role Our client is seeking an experienced Quality Engineer (QE) with a strong background in special processes to support a high-compliance aerospace manufacturing environment. This role is critical to ensuring adherence to Nadcap, ISO, and AS standards while driving continuous improvement across quality systems and manufacturing operations. Key Responsibilities Quality & Compliance Ensure compliance with Nadcap, ISO 9001, and AS9100 standards Lead and support audits, including internal, customer, and third-party (Nadcap) audits Maintain and improve Quality Management System (QMS) documentation and procedures Interpret customer specifications and translate them into internal quality requirements Special Process Oversight Provide technical quality support for thermal spray, chemical processing, and coating processes Validate process controls, work instructions, and specifications Monitor process performance and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) Problem Solving & Continuous Improvement Lead root cause analysis using 8D, Fishbone, and 5 Whys methodologies Drive corrective actions through to closure and verify effectiveness Partner with engineering and operations to improve quality and reduce defects Supplier Quality Evaluate and monitor suppliers performing special processes Support supplier audits and qualification efforts Ensure proper flow-down of customer and regulatory requirements Documentation & Reporting Maintain inspection records, certifications, and compliance documentation Support First Article Inspections (FAI) per AS9102 Prepare quality metrics and reports for leadership review Preferred Qualifications Nadcap special process accreditation experience ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) certification Familiarity with GD&T and blueprint reading Experience with ERP or MES systems Key Skills Strong attention to detail and process discipline Effective communication and cross-functional collaboration Data-driven problem solving and decision making Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, regulated environment Compensation & Benefits Competitive salary based on experience Performance-based bonuses Comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage 401(k) with company match Paid time off and holidays Quality Engineer (Manufacturing) 5.0 5.0 out of 5 stars South Windsor, CT ilocatum 6 reviews
