Job Description:
About the Role Vibrant Building Technologies is looking for a versatile Lab and Manufacturing Technician to join our team in Ridgefield, CT. This role sits at the intersection of product development and early-stage production. You will work directly with our engineering team on testing, validation, and prototyping, and you will also play an active role in assembling early production units, helping us build quality and efficiency into our manufacturing process from the ground up. We are open to candidates at various experience levels, including recent graduates. If you are early in your career and have strong mechanical aptitude, a willingness to learn, and genuine enthusiasm for hands-on technical work, we want to hear from you. You will be working alongside a team of highly experienced engineers and operations professionals across disciplines who are genuinely invested in developing the people around them. This is a real opportunity to absorb deep technical knowledge, learn the full product development and manufacturing cycle, and grow into a broader role over time. The right person for this role is comfortable moving between a test bench and an assembly station, takes pride in the quality of their work regardless of the task, and understands that feedback from the production floor is just as valuable as data from the lab. Key Responsibilities Lab and Testing
  • Execute hands-on functional and performance testing on HVAC-related systems and components, following defined test plans and procedures
  • Set up and operate data acquisition (DAQ) systems to capture, log, and review test data including temperature, pressure, airflow, and electrical measurements
  • Analyze and summarize test results, identifying anomalies and communicating findings clearly to the engineering team
  • Build and iterate on physical prototypes in support of product development and engineering validation efforts
  • Maintain and calibrate lab instrumentation and test equipment to ensure measurement accuracy
  • Document test procedures, results, and observations accurately in lab notebooks and digital records Production Assembly and Manufacturing Support
  • Perform hands-on assembly of early production units across VibrantBT product lines, following work instructions and assembly documentation
  • Identify and report assembly issues, fit problems, or process inefficiencies, providing direct feedback to engineering and operations
  • Help develop and refine assembly procedures and work instructions based on firsthand build experience
  • Support end-of-line testing and quality checks as products move through initial production runs
  • Collaborate with engineers and operations staff to improve build quality, reduce assembly time, and catch issues before they scale
  • Assist with facility maintenance, inventory organization, and general manufacturing floor tasks as needed Required Qualifications
  • Hands-on technical experience in a lab, manufacturing, shop, or classroom environment, whether through work history, internships, coursework, or personal projects. Recent graduates are welcome to apply.
  • Mechanical aptitude with a demonstrated ability to assemble, adjust, and troubleshoot physical systems or products
  • Comfortable using common hand tools, power tools, and precision measurement instruments
  • Basic familiarity with electrical concepts such as reading wiring diagrams, using a multimeter, and working safely around low-voltage systems
  • Ability to read or a strong willingness to learn how to interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and engineering drawings
  • Strong attention to detail and a disciplined approach to documentation
  • Willingness to shift between lab work and production assembly based on team needs
  • Curiosity and eagerness to learn from experienced engineers and take on new responsibilities over time Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate degree, technical certification, or coursework in HVAC, electrical technology, mechanical engineering technology, or a related field
  • Working knowledge of HVAC systems, components, or principles
  • Prior experience with data acquisition systems and instrumentation
  • Familiarity with UL, CSA, or similar product safety standards and certification processes
  • Exposure to PCB-level assembly or basic electronics troubleshooting
  • Experience in an product development Test/ R D lab, or contract manufacturing environment Work Environment This is a full-time, on-site position at our Ridgefield, CT facility.
The role involves regular work across both lab and light manufacturing environments, including standing, lifting, and sustained hands-on assembly work. You will interact daily with engineers and operations staff, and occasionally with external vendors and certification teams. VibrantBT is a focused team working on products that matter in the built environment. There is real mentorship available here for someone who shows up curious and engaged. We expect you to grow into this role and take on more as your skills and familiarity with our systems develop.
