Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Guide the mechanical development of new products from concept review through qualification testing and ongoing product support.
- Build, update, and control 3D models and 2D drawings using SolidWorks, while applying analytical tools to assess structural performance when needed.
- Review designs through formal evaluation methods such as risk assessments and failure analysis to identify issues affecting reliability, function, and manufacturability.
- Verify that products and components meet applicable environmental and industry testing expectations, including aerospace-related standards where required.
- Coordinate external technical services by defining engineering needs, monitoring deliverables, and ensuring work is completed to quality and schedule expectations.
- Support multiple active programs at the same time, driving tasks forward from initial design through release and validation.
- Investigate technical and production-related problems using structured root cause methods and implement effective corrective actions.
- Partner with manufacturing teams on the shop floor to improve fixtures, tooling, and production processes while helping resolve day-to-day build issues.
- Oversee additive manufacturing activities, including support for 3D printing lab operations and related prototype development.
- Provide sustaining engineering assistance for existing products, including evaluation of part obsolescence and long-term design support. Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aeronautical/Aerospace Engineering.
- At least 8 years of experience in aerospace or advanced engineering environments with strong involvement in new product development.
- Proficiency in mechanical design and 3D modeling tools such as SolidWorks; exposure to CATIA or Creo is an advantage.
- Hands-on experience with structural or finite element analysis, design verification, and engineering review methods such as FMEA.
- Working knowledge of manufacturing methods including machining, welding, brazing, assembly, and product testing.
- Ability to interpret and apply GD& T principles and engineering drawing standards.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to prepare technical documentation, specifications, and engineering procedures.
- Comfortable working between office and manufacturing settings, including occasional lifting up to 35 pounds and extended periods of sitting, standing, or walking.
