This role is responsible for ensuring the efficient operation of molding machines, maximizing productivity, and maintaining high-quality standards for all products produced. The successful candidate will perform a variety of engineering and technical tasks, assist production teams with troubleshooting and root cause analysis, and help drive continuous improvement initiatives. This position also requires maintaining accurate documentation, ensuring process records are current and properly organized, and supporting compliance with company quality standards and procedures. Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Plastics Engineering Technology preferred), or a minimum of 5 years of experience in Automotive and/or Medical precision injection molding. Preferred 10+ years of experience within the injection molding industry. Strong experience with plastic injection molding process development, optimization, and troubleshooting using data-driven metrics. Experience processing engineering-grade materials and resins. RJG MMI Certification and Scientific Injection Molding experience utilizing RJG eDART hardware and software is highly desirable. Knowledge of scientific molding principles, process capability studies, and Cpk analysis. Experience with machine, mold, automation, robotics, and part-handling system optimization to improve productivity and reduce cycle times. Ability to perform root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions. Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Ability to prepare and present Capital Expenditure Requests (CERs) with a solid understanding of Return on Investment (ROI) analysis. Ability to interpret blueprints, GD&T requirements, and technical specifications. Experience working with resin suppliers, equipment vendors, mold manufacturers, and customers as needed. Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement, preventive maintenance, and operational excellence. Proven ability to train, mentor, and support Process Technicians and production personnel in scientific molding practices. Strong communication and collaboration skills with Engineering, Tooling, Quality, Maintenance, and Production departments. Leadership experience managing and directing mold setup personnel and process equipment setup technicians is preferred. Essential Responsibilities Develop, validate, and optimize injection molding processes using scientific molding principles and data-driven methodologies. Monitor and adjust processing parameters to maintain process stability, product quality, and production efficiency. Identify and implement improvements to molds, machines, automation systems, robotics, and auxiliary equipment to enhance performance and reduce cycle times. Lead mold and process setup activities while ensuring compliance with established standards. Analyze process capability data (Cpk) and drive continuous improvements to manufacturing performance. Troubleshoot molding defects, process variations, and production issues using root cause analysis techniques. Implement corrective and preventive actions to improve process reliability and eliminate recurring problems. Review production and quality data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement. Collaborate with resin suppliers, tooling vendors, and equipment manufacturers to resolve technical challenges and optimize processes. Support preventive maintenance initiatives to maximize equipment reliability and operational efficiency.
