About the Opportunity A leading engineering and automation solutions provider is seeking an experienced Automation Engineer to join its growing Automation Software team in the Tampa Bay area. This role offers the opportunity to develop and implement advanced process control systems for large-scale industrial automation projects across North America and internationally. Projects span industries including food and beverage, plastics, petrochemicals, tire and rubber manufacturing, and other process industries requiring sophisticated material handling, batching, weighing, and processing systems. The successful candidate will work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams to design, program, commission, and support automation solutions for complex industrial applications. Key Responsibilities Develop, program, test, and commission PLC-based control systems using Rockwell Automation platforms. Design and implement HMI and SCADA applications for industrial process control systems. Configure, troubleshoot, and optimize field instrumentation and automation equipment. Support startup, commissioning, and validation activities at customer facilities. Collaborate with project managers, electrical engineers, and commissioning teams throughout project execution. Assist with operator training and provide technical support during project handover. Interpret and work from Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), and electrical schematics. Troubleshoot industrial control systems, motor controls, variable frequency drives, and industrial communication networks. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related technical discipline. Experience programming Rockwell Automation ControlLogix PLC systems. Proficiency with Allen-Bradley Ladder Logic and Structured Text programming. Experience developing HMI applications using FactoryTalk View SE and/or ME. Knowledge of industrial instrumentation, process controls, and system commissioning. Ability to travel as required for project startup and commissioning activities. Strong communication, troubleshooting, and teamwork skills. Ability to legally work in the United States without sponsorship. Preferred Qualifications 5+ years of PLC programming or automation engineering experience. Experience with Rockwell Automation PlantPAx process control systems. Experience with FactoryTalk Batch (FTBatch) software. Experience with SCADA platforms including Ignition and FactoryTalk View. Familiarity with Siemens PLC and HMI platforms. Experience integrating third-party industrial equipment and control systems. Strong understanding of industrial networks including Ethernet/IP, ControlNet, DeviceNet, Profinet, Profibus, and Modbus. Experience supporting material handling, batching, mixing, and process manufacturing systems. Additional language skills, including Spanish or German, are considered an asset.
Pay:
$100,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
