Manufacturing Engineer - Level 3 The Manufacturing Engineer works closely with Senior Engineers, Production, Quality, and Management to support manufacturing operations, develop and improve processes, and resolve technical challenges. This role ensures efficient production, compliance with customer requirements, and continuous process improvement. Essential Responsibilities Interpret customer contracts, specifications, and technical drawings. Develop, implement, and improve manufacturing processes, tooling, fixtures, and workholding solutions. Create and maintain process documentation, including process flow diagrams, PFMEAs, control plans, setup sheets, work instructions, and testing procedures. Support Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives to improve quality, efficiency, and cost performance. Utilize SolidWorks to create and revise models, drawings, and manufacturing documentation. Operate and support 3D printing activities for prototyping and process development. Production & Manufacturing Support Collaborate with Production, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to develop job travelers, routing steps, and manufacturing plans. Provide technical support to machining, production, and quality departments. Generate and maintain CNC programs using CAM software and perform minor program edits as needed. Design tooling and select cutting tools to optimize machining operations. Troubleshoot manufacturing processes, machine issues, and product nonconformances. Support machine setup, prove-outs, process validation, and production readiness activities. Monitor manufacturing performance and implement process improvements while maintaining process control requirements. Assist with employee training on manufacturing processes, CNC operations, and best practices. Quality & Customer Support Read and interpret technical drawings and GD&T requirements (ASME Y14.5). Support in-process inspections and quality verification activities. Prepare and submit NCRs, SSRs, and other customer-required documentation. Maintain compliance with AS9100 and customer-specific requirements. Planning & Administration Capture customer orders and associated documentation within the ERP system. Create and maintain Bills of Materials, job travelers, and related manufacturing records. Issue RFQs to suppliers and evaluate cost, quality, and lead-time considerations. Prepare reports and metrics related to production performance, quality, and cost. Qualifications Minimum 3 years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering; 3-5+ years of overall manufacturing experience preferred. Experience in aerospace manufacturing preferred. Proficiency with SolidWorks CAD and CAM software (CAMWorks, Surfcam, or equivalent). Strong knowledge of CNC machining processes, including milling, turning, and EDM. Working knowledge of GD&T Experience with tooling, fixtures, process development, and continuous improvement initiatives. Familiarity with AS9100 quality system. Experience using ERP systems and Microsoft Office applications. Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma training preferred. CNC programming experience preferred. Additional Skills Knowledge of aerospace materials including aluminum, titanium, stainless steel, and Inconel. Familiarity with metal finishing and coating processes. Proficiency with common metrology equipment, including micrometers, calipers, and height gauges. Strong analytical, troubleshooting, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
