Job Description

Position Summary We are seeking an experienced Senior OSP Design Engineer with a strong background in Fiber Optic Network Engineering, OSP design, permitting, and utility coordination. This role is responsible for leading complex fiber infrastructure projects from planning through final construction deliverables while coordinating with municipalities, DOT agencies, utility owners, and internal engineering teams.

The ideal candidate has extensive experience with
FTTH/FTTX
network design, underground and aerial fiber infrastructure, permitting workflows, GIS-based engineering systems, and telecom construction standards. Required Qualifications 5-10+ years of OSP Fiber Engineering and Design experience Bachelor's Degree (or higher) from an accredited college/university AND/OR 10+ years of directly related Fiber Optic Design experience Strong understanding of:
FTTH / FTTX
architecture Underground and aerial fiber design Fiber splicing concepts Utility coordination and constructability Telecom permitting and ROW processes Experience using: AutoCAD IQGeo VETRO Vitruvi GIS platforms and mapping systems Experience permitting fiber infrastructure in: North Carolina South Carolina Georgia Florida Illinois (This is a PLUS), not required is highly preferred Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously Strong communication and coordination skills Responsibilities Design underground and aerial fiber optic networks Produce construction-ready OSP drawings and permit packages Perform route analysis and field verification support Coordinate with municipalities, DOT agencies, railroads, utility owners, and permitting authorities
Develop:
Fiber route designs Splicing schematics Utility conflict analysis Construction details Permit exhibits Review field notes, redlines, and as-built documentation Coordinate with CAD, permitting, and records teams Utilize GIS systems for network planning and asset management Support project managers with scheduling, scope, and engineering deliverables Perform quality control reviews on engineering packages Mentor junior engineers and designers Interface directly with clients regarding engineering status, challenges, and deliverables Preferred Experience Experience with: IQGeo publishing VETRO records management Fiber splicing documentation DOT permitting workflows Utility relocation projects Railroad crossing permitting FTTH overbuild projects

Pay:
$36.00 - $41.00 per hour
