Job Description

Continuous Improvement EngineerPosition OverviewThe Continuous Improvement Engineer will lead and support initiatives that improve manufacturing performance, increase operational efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance product quality. Working cross-functionally with production, quality, maintenance, and supply chain teams, the role applies Lean, Six Sigma, and data-driven problem solving to deliver sustained process improvements and cost savings across the plant.

Key ResponsibilitiesLead and execute continuous improvement projects using Lean, Six Sigma, PDCA and other CI methodologies to improve throughput, quality and cost.

Analyze production processes using data analysis, time studies, value stream mapping, and root cause analysis to identify improvement opportunities.

Develop and implement standardized work, process controls, visual management, and competitive metrics to sustain improvements.

Facilitate Kaizen events, training sessions and workshops for operators, supervisors, and engineering teams to build CI capability.

Partner with manufacturing engineers, maintenance, and operations to implement process changes, line balancing, and equipment upgrades while minimizing downtime.

Create business cases, track project performance (KPIs), quantify savings, and report results to plant leadership.

Support new product introductions and process transfers by designing for manufacturability and ensuring processes are optimized prior to launch.Drive health, safety and quality compliance during change implementation and ensure all changes meet regulatory and customer requirements.

Mentor and coach team members on CI tools, statistical methods, and best practices to foster a culture of continuous improvement.

QualificationsBachelors degree in Engineering (Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical, or related field) or equivalent experience; Masters or Lean/Six Sigma certification preferred.

Demonstrated experience (typically 3+ years) in a manufacturing environment delivering continuous improvement projects and measurable results.

Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles, Six Sigma methodologies (Green/Black Belt preferred), value stream mapping, 5S, Kaizen, and root cause analysis tools (5 Whys, Fishbone).Proven ability to analyze data using statistical tools (Minitab, Excel, or similar), create reports and drive data-based decisions.

Excellent project management skills with experience leading cross-functional teams and managing multiple projects to completion.

Hands-on manufacturing engineering experience, familiarity with process equipment, PLCs, and maintenance practices is a plus.

Strong communication, facilitation and training skills with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization.

Ability to travel between plant sites as needed and support shift operations during project implementations.
