reviews $60,000•$65,000 a year•Full-time Job Overview Position Summary We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Piping Metal Expansion Joint Engineer to join our engineering team. This role is responsible for the design, development, layout, and support of industrial expansion joint systems and assemblies used in power plants, refineries, and petrochemical facilities. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with piping design standards, 3D CAD software, fabrication processes, and project coordination. Metal Expansion Joint experience is not required; we will teach the right candidate. The Piping Metal Expansion Joint Engineer will work closely with production, quality, and sales, to ensure the expansion joints are designed for safety, manufacturability, performance, and cost efficiency. Key Responsibilities Design and develop Metal Expansion Joints, and related mechanical components. Create detailed 2D drawings and 3D models using CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar platforms. Prepare fabrication drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), isometric drawings, and assembly documentation. Review customer specifications, P&IDs, and engineering requirements to develop compliant piping solutions. Perform expansion joint stress analysis, flow calculations, pressure drop calculations, and material selection as required. Ensure designs comply with applicable industry standards and codes including ASME, ANSI, API, ASTM, and customer specifications. Coordinate with manufacturing and production teams to support fabrication, welding, assembly, and testing activities. Provide engineering support for troubleshooting production issues and field-related problems. Work with procurement and vendors to source materials and components. Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on design efficiency, manufacturability, quality, and cost reduction. Maintain accurate engineering records, revision control, and documentation. Qualifications Education Associate's degree in mechanical engineering, Piping Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field preferred. Equivalent industry experience may be considered in lieu of degree. Experience 3+ years of experience in piping design, mechanical design, industrial fabrication, or related engineering field preferred. Experience with stainless steel piping, corrugated hose, braid products, or process piping systems is a plus. Experience working in a manufacturing or industrial environment preferred. Technical Skills Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor, or similar. Understanding of piping codes and standards includingASME B31.3, ASME
Section VIII, ANSI, and API standards. Knowledge of welding, fabrication, machining, and manufacturing processes. Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, blueprints, and technical specifications. Use of standard office and engineering equipment including computers and measuring tools. Preferred Experience (Plus Qualifications) Industrial hose and expansion joint design preferred but not required. We will train the right candidate.
