Req ID:
JR99949 Principal Engineer, HBM Design Quality Management Our vision is to transform how the world uses information to enrich life for all. Micron Technology is a world leader in innovating memory and storage solutions that accelerate the transformation of information into intelligence, inspiring the world to learn, communicate and advance faster than ever. Micron is seeking a Principal Engineer within the newly formed HBM Quality Management Systems (QMS) team to help establish, scale, and govern quality execution for next‑generation High Bandwidth Memory (HBM) products, with a strong emphasis on HBM design engineering precision and lifecycle governance. This role is a foundational technical leadership position within HBM Engineering, centered on enabling disciplined, audit‑ready execution across the HBM design engineering lifecycle—from architecture and design requirements through implementation, signoff, bring‑up, and productization. You will serve as the HBM design engineering authority for QMS, ensuring alignment to international quality and cybersecurity standards while driving modernization of quality practices tailored to HBM's system‑level challenges. You will represent HBM Engineering in internal and external audits and work closely with HBM design engineering, validation, product engineering, and program teams to embed quality earlier in the development lifecycle ("shift left"), improving scalability, predictability, and tape‑out/release confidence. You bring the technical depth, operational accuracy, and leadership presence required to run elite QMS operations in a fast paced HBM environment—and the influence to socialize future‑ready quality solutions across Micron engineering organizations. Key Responsibilities Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Audit Readiness & Representation
- Maintain continuous audit readiness for HBM Engineering.
- Represent HBM Engineering in internal and external audits dedicated to product integrity and information security.
- Serve as the primary technical spokesperson for HBM Engineering quality practices, processes, and evidence maturity. Standards, Compliance & Governance
- Ensure HBM engineering, product engineering, and build processes align with applicable international quality and cybersecurity standards, including
ISO 9001, IATF
16949, and
ISO 21434.
- Define and govern HBM‑specific QMS expectations, reviews, templates, and metrics. QMS Systems & Modernization
- Own and evolve QMS governance within DataTrail, including project setup, approval workflows, review cadence, and ongoing administration.
- Lead modernization of HBM quality processes, tools, metrics, and reporting to improve scalability and engineering efficiency. Documentation & Repositories
- Support SharePoint and EDC document repository structures aligned with audit, training, and compliance needs.
- Own documentation workflows and handoffs supporting requirements traceability and design governance. Requirements & Traceability
- Moderate and approve requirements and inspection reviews using Micron's approved requirements management and workflow tools.
- Support end‑to‑end requirements, datasheet, and develop traceability throughout HBM engineering processes.
- Evaluate and support potential deployment of centralized engineering requirements databases or SpecLink‑type solutions. Risk & Engineering Reviews
- Participate in and support dFMEA (Design FMEA) activities, including review, challenge, and approval of risk items.
- Maintain HBM QMS process maps, metrics, and review gates aligned with validation and execution practices. Training & Enablement
- Partner with engineering workforce development teams to track and report training compliance in support of audit readiness. Strategic Quality Leadership
- Leverage a deep understanding of Micron's QMS to drive continuous improvement both upstream and downstream of HBM engineering workflows.
- Champion a proactive, shift‑left quality mentality appropriate for highly integrated HBM products and multi-functional execution. Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related engineering field.
- 10+ years of relevant experience in memory products, advanced semiconductor development, or system‑level silicon programs.
- Strong experience with Quality Management Systems and audit execution.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize effectively in a fast‑paced, technically complex environment.
- Strong project management, planning, and organizational skills. Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with HBM, advanced memory products, or large‑scale, multi‑discipline engineering programs.
- Experience with requirements management, traceability systems, and QMS tooling.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to influence across engineering organizations.
