Job Description
The Manufacturing Engineering Intern Position offers candidates an opportunity to work, contribute, and apply academic skills in a corporate setting with industry professionals.
Essential Functions:
Evaluate existing manufacturing processes and identify area(s) for improvement. Determine problem resolutions and work with management to implement improvements. Support process optimization initiatives to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and improve quality Collaborate with production on continuous improvement projects and 5S standards for production. Participate in time studies, workflow analysis, and capacity planning Assist with root cause analyses using tools like 5 Whys, Fishbone diagrams, or Pareto charts Work closely with production teams to troubleshoot manufacturing issues Participate in shop floor operations and recommend improvements Help evaluate and improve tooling, fixtures, and equipment layout Learn and apply engineering principles in a real-world environment Gain exposure to manufacturing systems, ERP/MES tools, and CAD software Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards Minimum Experience, Education, etc.: Pursuing a bachelor's degree in an Engineering Discipline, Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering preferred Minimum GPA of 3.0 preferred Must be able to work a minimum of 8 weeks Familiarity with lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, and process optimization principles
