Focused on increasing efficiency, improving quality, reducing cost, and optimizing workflow in a CNC milling and turning operation. This role supports CNC programming, tooling development, setup optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives across the machining department. Key Responsibilities Design and select tooling, fixtures, and gauges for CNC milling and lathe operations Program, set up, and support CNC machines using CAD/CAM or shop-floor programming Develop setup sheets, work instructions, and machining procedures Improve cycle times, setup times, and overall production efficiency Analyze workflow and recommend layout/process improvements Support CNC machine maintenance and process optimization Estimate cycle times and assist with quoting new jobs Train and coach machinists and operators Adjust programs and setups to improve quality and reduce scrap Ensure machines operate at optimal efficiency Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to improve manufacturability Support inspection planning and quality control processes Promote 5S, safety, and lean manufacturing practices Participate in equipment selection and process improvements Maintain documentation, SOPs, and performance metrics Qualifications Bachelor's degree or equivalent manufacturing experience 5-10 years CNC machining experience in a machine shop environment Strong background in CNC mills and lathes Experience with CAD/CAM programming and shop-floor edits Strong understanding of machining processes, tooling, and setup reduction Knowledge of GD&T, SPC, and quality inspection practices Experience with continuous improvement (Lean, Kaizen, TPM) Ability to read prints and estimate cycle times from drawings or models Strong problem-solving and communication skills Experience with ERP/MRP systems preferred Proficient in Microsoft Office and manufacturing software Leadership or mentoring experience required Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus
