Job Description

Role Summary This is a senior-level systems engineering position focused on the design and implementation of large-scale radio network equipment for air traffic control infrastructure. The role involves leading engineering activities related to site surveys, network configurations, and system documentation to support deployment efforts across multiple federal facilities. The engineer will coordinate with cross-functional teams, ensure compliance with safety and technical standards, and provide technical leadership throughout the project lifecycle. Responsibilities Lead large-scale radio network planning activities, including site surveys, system configurations, and cable routing. Create detailed site installation engineering packages, including drawings, bills of materials (BOM), installation procedures, and schematics. Develop comprehensive system design packages to facilitate site preparation, procurement, and installation. Support requirements definition, system decomposition, and architecture development for radio communication systems. Utilize Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodologies to support system modeling, documentation, and analysis. Conduct trade-off analyses to optimize system design and support engineering decision-making. Provide technical leadership, mentoring junior engineers, and guiding design reviews and technical discussions with stakeholders. Collaborate with field engineering teams, deployment crews, and program leadership to ensure design alignment with operational needs. Ensure all designs and documentation comply with program standards, engineering best practices, and safety regulations. Support site survey analysis and engineering documentation to facilitate successful system deployment. Qualifications Minimum of 8 years with a Bachelor''s degree, 6 years with a Master''s degree, or 3 years with a PhD; 10 years with an Associate degree; or 12 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree. This position requires eligibility for a U.S. Government security clearance. In accordance with federal law, U.S. citizenship is required. Extensive experience with systems engineering processes, including requirements management, system decomposition, and architecture development. Proven experience applying Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) principles and tools such as SysML and UML. Demonstrated ability to perform technical trade studies, evaluations, and system optimization. Prior leadership or mentorship experience within engineering teams. Strong written and verbal communication skills to engage with technical stakeholders and facilitate design reviews. Familiarity with radio communication systems, telecommunications infrastructure, site survey analysis, and engineering documentation. Proficiency in engineering design tools such as CAD software.
Publishing Pay Range:
$60.00 - $68.00 hourly This position is based in office and requires employee to work on-site in Chicago, IL.
